Mega Millions $1 Billion Winner Announced in Michigan

This lucky Michigan resident is taking home the second-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever. And it’s a whole lot of cash.

Saturday, around 1 AM EST, a list of lottery winners were announced. One lucky individual Michigan came forward to show their winning Mega Millions jackpot, ABC News reports. The winning numbers are 4-26-42-50-60 with a Mega Ball number of 24.

The winner’s identity has not been revealed. However, they are taking home the Mega Millions jackpot that’s estimated at $1 billion or $739.6 million as a lump-sum, before taxes.

The person purchased the ticket at Kroger in Novi. The Oakland County city is a suburb of Detroit and about a 30-minute drive from the city.

Mega Millions Jackpot Increases Before Drawing

As a matter of act, the Mega Millions jackpot increased to $1 billion for Friday night’s drawing, making it the second-largest jackpot in Mega Million’s history. Furthermore, it was the third-largest in United States lottery history the publication says.

The world’s largest lottery prize ever awarded on a single ticket happed on Oct. 23, 2018. This lucky South Carolina person won $1.537 billion.

Now Michigan is the home to the 18th Mega Million jackpot winner. The last time Michigan was home to a winning ticket was in Oct. 2017. They shared the prize with a Rhode Island winner. What’s more, Michigan is a founding member of the Mega Millions lottery.y

Additionally, two people in Florida, one in Maryland, one in Missouri, one in New Jersey, one in New York, and two in Pennsylvania are the Match 5 winners. They are taking home $1 million. Also, one person in North Carolina and another in Virginia won the Match 5+. Each of them is taking home $2 million.

The Powerball lottery has also been making headlines. A winning ticket, worth $731.1 million, was sold in Allegany County, Maryland on Wednesday. This is the Powerball’s fourth-largest jackpot. Furthermore, it was the sixth-largest in U.S. lotto history.

The previous jackpot was won by a person in Wisconsin on Sept. 15, 2020. It was worth $120 million. Now the Powerball’s jackpot is resetting to $20 million for today’s (Jan. 23) drawing. Then, the next drawing is Tuesday, Jan. 26.
