“Justice’s Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing is a (sic) immense loss,” Melania Trump writes. “Her tenacity & strength were matched by her intellect & compassion, & her spirit will live on in all she has inspired. My prayers are with her family & all who loved her. #RIPBRG.”

Melania Trump’s husband, President Donald Trump, also penned a statement in response to Ginsburg’s passing.

“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg served more than 27 years as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States – notably just the second woman to be appointed to the Court. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Martin, and a dedicated mother to her two children,” Trump wrote.

The President continues by writing: “Renowned for her brilliant mind and her powerful dissents at the Supreme Court, Justice Ginsburg demonstrated that one can disagree without being disagreeable toward one’s colleagues or different points of view. Her opinions, including well-known decisions regarding the legal equality of women and the disabled, have inspired all Americans, and generations of great legal minds.”

Video of President Trump reacting to first hearing the news of Ginsburg’s death surfaced on social media and soon went viral.

To honor her passing, President Trump later ordered that flags across the country fly at half-staff on Saturday.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg died at the age of 87 on Saturday. She served on the Supreme Court for 27 years. During her time on the supreme court, Ginsburg rose to become one of the most prominent members of the nation’s highest court.

Furthermore, Chief Justice John Roberts released a statement regarding her death. “Our nation has lost a justice of historic stature,” Roberts said. “We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her, a tired and resolute champion of justice.”
