After last night’s (Oct. 7) vice presidential debate, all the internet wants to talk about is the house fly that landed on Mike Pence‘s head. Like Pence, other politicians have battled flies including Hillary Clinton. A similar moment went viral during the 2016 presidential election.

A house fly landed on Clinton’s forehead, between her eyes during the second 2016 presidential debate. Much like Pence, Clinton failed to notice the insect. Both continued to speak while the insect crawled on their heads. For Pence, the fly stayed on his head for nearly two minutes.

Comedian Joel Kim Booster compared the two moments on Twitter.

Joel Kim Booster, known for his Comedy Central stand-ups, poked fun of the fly situation. On Twitter, he posted a side-by-side comparison between Clinton and Pence. He also said the fly was his favorite “reoccurring character.”

Similarly, other Twitter users also compared the two politicians. One user wondered if it was “the same fly from 2016.” Another questioned why flies keep landing on politicians during debates. One wrote, “Why does the fly thing repeatedly happen in debates? Who is letting all these flies inside?” Meanwhile another commented, “Flies really love American presidential debates.”

Besides Hillary Clinton, flies have landed on other politicans.

Earlier this year, a fly landed on the face of former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg during a speech at the Democratic National Convention.

“I would vote for the fly on Mike Bloomberg’s face,” one Twitter user wrote at the time.

Additionally, Donald Trump had his own fly moment in 2016 when a fly landed in his hair during a presidential rally. Both the current and former president had their run-ins with flies. In 2009, PETA also criticized Barrack Obama when he killed a fly during a CNBC interview.
