MyPillow Petition Urging Amazon, Walmart to Quit Selling Product Reaches 60,000 Signatures

More than 60,000 people have signed a petition calling on Amazon, Walmart, Costco and Bed Bath & Beyond to stop selling MyPillow products over the MyPillow founder’s close ties to the Trump administration and actions following the storming of the Capitol on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

MyPillow Petition Urges Boycott of ‘Insurrectionists’

James Lanigan launched the petition on Jan. 15. The petition argues without citing evidence that Trump “staged a coup.” It also notes that MyPillow founder Mike Lindell urged Trump to impose martial law. “We will not support funding insurrectionists!” the petition declares.

Lindell has drawn criticism for advancing Trump’s unsupported claims that he actually won the election. He also believes the country suffered widespread voter fraud last November.

Lindell reportedly brought notes to the White House on Jan. 15 that contained the words “martial law if necessary.” According to the Daily Mail, he showed up at the White House without notice and also urged Trump to undertake a CIA leadership shakeup. Trump reportedly sent him away, referring him to the White House Counsel’s office.

Lindell told the New York Times that his notes were from an unknown attorney. He said the attorney had been collaborating with him to establish that Trump actually won the election.

Companies Pulling Products Due to Drop in Demand

Of the companies listed on the petition, Bed Bath & Beyond has already ended its relationship with MyPillow. The company told Newsweek that it was yanking MyPillow products from its shelves due to decreased customer demand, not Lindell’s political activities.

“We have been rationalizing our assortment to discontinue a number of underperforming items and brands,” a spokesperson said. “This includes the MyPillow product line. Our decisions are data-driven, customer-inspired and are delivering substantial growth in our key destination categories.”

Kohl’s has said it is pulling MyPillow products from its shelves for the same reason.

Costco told the San Francisco Chronicle last week that it will keep selling MyPillow products. It said that it has “contractual commitments to MyPillow that we intend to honor, as we seek to do with all of our suppliers.”

Lindell has become increasingly isolated over his insistence that Trump won the election. He has continued to claim that even after President Joe Biden took the oath of office. The Star Tribune reported that local Republicans have “gone silent” on Lindell’s possible gubernatorial candidacy.

And Lindell is facing threats of a lawsuit from voting machines manufacturer Dominion Inc., which has already sued Rudy Giuliani for $1.3 billion.

As for Lindell, he has said he’s holding off on donations to Republican candidates until the party accepts his unproven claims of election fraud.

In the meantime, Lindell may have to deal with an increasing number of retailers removing his products from their stores.
