Is there a great unknown sitting directly in the center of the galaxy?

As we continue to feed our fascination with space and exploration, evident with new technology and expeditions, there’s seemingly a lot left to discover out there.

Mysterious Radio Signal

There are currently new radio signals coming from very close to the center of the galaxy. The exact name is ASKAP J173608.2-321635. As of now, scientists are completely puzzled as to what it is that’s sending these signals. It’s likely some kind of cosmic object, but it has some weird properties.

A team of astronomers led by Ziteng Wang at the University of Sydney, Australia have described it as a “highly-polarized, variable radio source located near the Galactic Center and with no clear multi-wavelength counterpart.”

According to Science Alert, whatever it is will emit radio waves for weeks at a time, but will then vanish completely from the timescales. The mysterious extraterrestrial thing is also highly polarized. Scientists are continuing to try to determine the source. There are types of stars that will vary in their radio wavelengths, such as those that flare frequently.

The fact that nothing is picked up on X-ray or infrared wavelengths kind of makes that more unlikely, however. ASKAP J173608.2-32163 has periods where it fades over time, which also wouldn’t match up with a pulsar. These pulsars have sweeping beams of radio light. Also not matching due to current characteristics are x-ray binaries, gamma-ray bursts, and supernovas.

So, now there is a near-empty list of possibilities. There’s also a lot of scientists scratching their heads in confusion. There are very few natural phenomena that match this highly polarized radio transmission. Which means this may be something else entirely.

UFO Spottings Recently

In recent years, Navy pilots, as well as other Earth-goers, have witnessed different aerial phenomena. A new report from the government suggests that there is no current proof that these are alien spacecraft, but scientists are also having a hard time explaining these mysterious movements.

According to The New York Times, the past 120 incidents over the course of two decades were not spotting of advanced government or military technology.

Some people are thinking that these sightings are related to experimental technology from elsewhere in the world. This could mean hypersonic technology from Russia or China.

The entire world has an eery fascination with UFOs, mostly because they could signal a whole other world out there. All that fascination peaked when President Barack Obama was asked about these spottings on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

“What is true, and I’m actually being serious here, is that there is footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are,” he said.
