A novelty candle company based out of England is looking to commemorate the calendar year of 2020 with a new candle and scent to encapsulate the year.
For better or for worse, 2020 has been a year that many people will never forget. As such, the UK-based company, Flaming Crap, has launched a new “2020 Scent” candle to sum up the year. It is advertised as having four “quintessential aromas” inspired by the increasingly challenging reality of the year 2020.
“With four fragrant layers, this candle takes you on a sensual journey through the year,” reads the product description for the new “2020 Scent” candle.
The limited-edition “2020 Scent” candle incorporates four fragrant layers. Three of the scents are of banana bread, hand sanitizer, and woody musks. They are references to the COVID-19 pandemic that has devastated much of the world. Additionally, there is one last scent thrown into the mix: budget aftershave.
The budget aftershave is a nod to Joe Exotic and the Tiger King documentary. The show was responsible for capturing everyone’s attention during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. According to Flaming Crap, the “earthy essence of the aftershave is symbolic of a product Joe Exotic. It’s what he would use to attract his next mate.”
According to Flaming Crap, their candles have up to 30 hours of burn time, or that’s about 7.5 hours for each layer.
Flaming Crap admits that the scents might come off as random and may not exactly complement each other. However, they believe that candle’s scents are rather fitting for the year of a global pandemic.
