PHOTO: Massive Gabby Petito Tribute Signs Placed Near Funeral Home Ahead of Memorial Service

In the wake of Gabby Petito’s disappearance, the world fell in love with her. Search efforts for the 22-year-old etched across corners of the internet like spiderwebs. While so many hoped for a happy ending, remains of the young woman were found a week after she went missing. Now, thousands are now sharing their condolences for the tragic loss.

Both in North Port, Florida and New York, dozens of memorials and tributes to the young woman have popped up. Ahead of funeral services at the Moloney Funeral Home, large signs have been placed around the area.

“In our hearts forever,” the signs read.

“REMEMBERING GABBY: Signs are placed near the funeral home ahead of the memorial service for Gabby Petito in Blue Point, New York,” the photo is captioned by Fox News.

The services are also open to the public between noon and 5 p.m. (ET) Sunday, as well as a live stream of the event. The family wanted anyone who felt compelled to be able to pay their respects to Gabby.

Additionally, her family put together a tribute video of Gabby’s life. In the 30-minute clip, videos show Gabby smiling, laughing, and doing what she loves. She’s seen playing with her dogs, zip-lining, and hiking. Throughout the video, Gabby’s infectious smile fills the camera. The young woman was described by friends as possessing a “light.” Her father, Joseph Petito, said “she was just the coolest chick you’ll ever meet.”

Funeral proceedings for Gabby will take place Monday.

A Timeline of Gabby Petito’s Disappearance

On July 2, Gabby Petito and fiancé Brian Laundrie left New York embarking on a four-month adventure across the country. They were excited to visit national parks and camp. Gabby was especially looking forward to blogging the whole adventure. On Youtube and Instagram, the couple documented their journey.

Photos show Gabby and Brian cooking dinners, hiking in beautiful areas, kissing, and laughing.

However, on Aug. 13 the two were involved in a domestic dispute. Officers in Moab, Utah pulled the couple over to determine what was going on. A distraught Gabby largely takes the blame, saying she has “OCD” and was trying to clean their van. She grew impatient with Brian, she said, and the two got into an argument that escalated.

Further, Gabby admitted she slapped Brian when he locked her out of their 2012 Ford Transit. Brian said this was because he was trying to calm Gabby down. Despite the unusual scene, officers didn’t press any charges. However, they encouraged the two to separate for a night, which they did. Officers drove Brian to a nearby motel, while Gabby stayed with the van.

Gabby Stops Communicating with Family

Days later, Gabby texted her mom that the two were on their way to the Grand Teton National Park. But shortly after this, her phone calls and text messages stopped altogether.

On Sept. 1, Brian returned to Florida with the van. He was alone.

After not hearing from Gabby for more than a week, her family filed a missing person’s report. A week later, FBI officials discovered Gabby’s body in the Wyoming national park.

Further, Brian and his family hired a lawyer and refused to speak with law enforcement. Shortly after, Brian went missing.

Since that time, an extensive search for the 23-year-old man continues in Florida’s Carlton Reserve. He is still missing. Brian is believed to be the last person to see Gabby alive. He is a person of interest in her death.
