Rosie O’Donnell Speaks Out Prior To Inauguration

Rosie O’Donnell wants to throw the book at former President Donald Trump. The TV personality shared her thoughts on Trump and his potential legal woes. Among other things, the former president faces an impeachment trial for his role in the U.S. Capitol building riot.

“I pray to God he does [time in prison],” O’Donnell told TMZ prior to Joe Biden’s Inauguration. Going back to Trump’s time as a TV personality himself, O’Donnell has been a vocal critic of Trump. For the past 15 years, the duo has had a very public feud with O’Donnell especially critical of his term as president.

Trump has left the building, leaving Washington for his home Florida. But O’Donnell hopes New York Attorney General Letitia James prosecutes Trump to the fullest extent of the law. Trump will soon lose his presidential immunity now that he’s left office. James is leading a civil probe into Trump’s business affairs and finances.

“Letitia James, she’s going to get them on the 21st I hope,” O’Donnell. Whether James ends up charging Trump remains to be seen. But she has spoken with his former lawyer Michael Cohen. As for Trump’s presidential pardons, O’Donnell called the former president corrupt. “He’s been paid for every single one of them.”

Rosie O’Donnell Shares Her Thoughts on Capitol Riot

“He’s a criminal and he has been since he first started in public life many years ago,” O’Donnell said of Trump. In regards to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, the TV personality hopes the rioters are tried. Five people were killed during the riot.

“I think it’s a terrifying time … I think it’s terrifying and what happened at the capitol was something I never thought I’d see in this country,” she said. “It was an insurrection, it was sedition and everyone involved should be punished to the full extent of the law.”

O’Donnell also has words for those that compared the riot to those that happened during the wake of George Floyd’s death. She said the two situations weren’t even comparable. The TV personality also blames Trump for starting the riot in D.C. and considers him a danger to the public, filling his followers with “snake oil.”
