Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson revealed some deeply personal information in a recent interview.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Robertson admitted she fought an eating disorder after appearing on Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars.
“During ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ you work out so much and you’re dancing 24/7, so no wonder you have the body of your lifetime,” said Robertson. “I had this body that I never thought I’d have. I had a six-pack for two weeks, but then Thanksgiving hit and it went away. People started to comment.”
Robertson was just 17 at the time and began receiving hateful comments about the way she looked. She felt “insecure” and believed what people would say. She received suggestions that if she “lost 10 more pounds” she would look like a “model”.
“You’re just kind of completely gripped by it and that’s kind of where I was,” she explained. “I would look at myself in the mirror and I would think, ‘I’m fat,’ and I was not at all.”
Robertson eventually found a way out from dealing with her disorder through her faith. She began to appreciate things about herself that went far beyond skin-deep beauty. She began to appreciate and be thankful for the fact that her legs work, and that her arms can carry things.
“I think just the maturity of how I see beauty has grown a lot,” she said. “I think a lot of times we say we want inner beauty but we seek to strive for outer beauty.”
Sadie Robertson was married to Christian Huff almost a year ago. She’s been sharing positive and uplifting advice and photos to social media.
