Starbucks is Debuting a New Menu Item Just in Time for Summer

Right as warm weather is approaching, Starbucks is rolling out a brand new Frappuccino flavor to help battle the heat.

The coffee chain is known for its blended, milkshake texture coffee drinks that are trademarked as Frappuccinos.

New Frappuccino Flavor on the Menu

Now, the chain is releasing its first limited-time flavor in more than three years. The Strawberry Funnel Cake Frappuccino is available to order at all Starbucks locations starting today.

The new addition to the menu is “turning to nostalgic flavors inspired by past experiences.” These past experiences include things like fairs and amusement parks. They are especially nostalgic given the fact that COVID-19 had put a pause on all large gatherings in the past year.

The new Frappuccino combines strawberry puree and whipped cream, as well as a funnel cake syrup, together for an icy treat. The beverage is topped with whipped cream, strawberry drizzle, and powdered sugar funnel cake topping. It is a part of the company’s new summer menu. A unicorn-shaped cake pop is also being added to the menu. The price for the new drink will vary depending on location, however, the price is around $5.45 for a 16-ounce size (not including tax). That size is 410 calories. The drink will only be available for a limited period of time.

Many companies cut down their menus over the last year. This was to make serving people during COVID-19 easier on fast food employees and to reduce overall cost.

Oat Milk Craze

According to CNN Business, the new Frappuccino is aligning well with what Starbucks sells best. The company’s cold beverages make up more than half of store sales. Additionally, cold-pressed espresso, cold brew, and oat milk continue to be huge selling points.

Today reported that the chain started offering oat milk as a milk alternative in all of its stores in Spring 2021. However, just a few weeks after it was available nationwide, stores started reporting a shortage of oat milk, which caused a lot of very sad plant-based milk drinkers to lash out online. The oat milk rolled out with new menu items like the Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and the Honey Oatmilk Latte.

The shortage is temporary but is a huge indicator of how popular oat milk has become in the past few years. In fact, oat milk sales have increased 138% in the past year. Plant-based foods and drinks continue to soar in popularity.

Starbucks attracts younger audiences with its cold drinks and sugary flavors. In fact, the company continues to market different versions of its cold brews, iced coffees, Frappuccinos, and coffee creamers in grocery stores across the country.

Viral Starbucks Customer Speaks Out on Order

One Starbucks customer went viral after his very extra order went viral. A barista at the coffee chain posted it on social media with the caption, “On todays episode of why i wanna quit my job.”

He ordered a Venti Caramel Crunch Frappuccino with five bananas, extra whip, extra caramel drizzle, heavy cream, extra syrup, and more. His order went viral and the “Edward” became infamous online. Despite the extreme detail of his drink, he sees no problem consistently ordering a drink like this.

“I don’t see a reason why I wouldn’t order a drink like this again. I just ordered another drink just like it yesterday,” Edward told the New York Post.

The barista got fired for his viral tweet. Both Edward and the barista were actually on good terms, however.
