Steve McQueen’s Former California Beach House Sells for Massive Price: Take a Tour of the Incredible Home

Some lucky soul with $12.1 million to spend and plenty of vacation days to burn just purchased late actor Steve McQueen’s Malibu home. To say we’re jealous is an understatement.

Since changing owners, the beach house has seen some much-needed revisions and remodeling while still honoring the original structure that Steve McQueen once admired. The luxurious home sits on a private stretch of the Broad Beach area in a gated community. Inside, it has plenty of gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows for plenty of natural light and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. And with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, not only is this a beach house, it’s the ultimate party destination, too.

Meanwhile, on the home’s expansive chef’s kitchen and dining area will make it hard for its new owners to travel very far from Steve McQueen’s gorgeous home. Not that they would have any reason to. On the lower floor, there’s a minibar, deck and jacuzzi with direct access to the beach.

One of the most impressive rooms in the house is, of course, the master bedroom. This room alone is the equivalent of a penthouse hotel suite. Not only is the bedroom spacious and sunlit, but it also has its own deck, marble ensuite bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in closet.

Of course, a home is only as luxurious as its location. And for the owners of Steve McQueen’s former home, they hit the jackpot. From every room in the house, the glittering blue waters of Lechuza Point are visible.

New Owners of Malibu Beach House Also Inherit Part of Steve McQueen’s Legacy

Before the beach home became another gorgeous resort along the Pacific Coast Highway, it was the primary residence for legendary actor Steve McQueen and his second wife and actress, Ali McGraw. The pair lived in this home for the majority of the 70s, while McQueen starred in a number of films, from Junior Bonner to Papillon. Meanwhile, McGraw kept up with roles of her own in Love Story, The Getaway, Convoy and more. Truly, Steve McQueen’s piece of paradise on Broad Beach must have been the break they needed from their busy lives on screen.

Unfortunately, though, Steve McQueen would meet his untimely death in 1980 at the age of 50. In November that year, the actor underwent surgery to remove a series of cancerous masses from his body. He died the following day.

Now that his beloved property is under new ownership, the current residents not only get to escape to a Malibu vacation, but they also have a crucial part of the last few years of Steve McQueen’s life. Whether he would run lines in the common area or just watch the sunset on the terrace, the new owners of his home will have the chance to see the ocean from the perspective of the late and great actor.
