Three Classic Halloween Cereals Make Early Return to Grocery Stores

All of you cereal fans out there rejoice — General Mills’ ultra-popular Halloween cereals are already hitting the shelves.

It’s a big weekend for General Mills and their fan-favorite monster cereals. Speaking of which, make sure to keep an eye out in the cereal aisle next time you visit your local grocery store. Despite it only being late in July, you very may well find boxes of the iconic Boo-Berry, Count Chocula, and Franken Berry cereals.

However, you may not recognize the new design for each of them right away. General Mills is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their popular cereals hitting stores. As such, they are utilizing brand new box designs. The cereal now comes in a simplistic all-white box, with Boo-Berry, Count Chocula, and Franken Berry, respectively, looking down at a bowl of the delicious cereal.

It is hard to believe that it has been 50 years since the Halloween cereals first launched. But that’s exactly where we’re at. Count Chocula and Franken Berry first hit stores back in 1971. For those who don’t already know, Count Chocula is the chocolate-flavored version of the cereal. Meanwhile, Franken Berry is strawberry-flavored.

And to almost everyone’s enjoyment, the breakfast company has even bigger plans slated for later this year. They will be introducing a new version of their Monster Mash cereal, which features all five of the Halloween monsters.

Speaking of Halloween in July, can it be Christmas in July too? General Mills is starting to act that way. As a matter of fact, they recently announced that they are partnering up with Jada Toys to release Count Chocula and Franken Berry action figures. The company released two statements following the release of the delightfully scary new toys.

“Breakfast at midnight? Our favorite Transylvanian chocoholic Count Chocula likes nothing better than to dig into a bowl of the classic General Mills cereal,” the company says of the new Count Chocula action figure. “And now you can collect this transfixing General Mills Count Chocula 6-inch scale action figure — replete with accurately sculpted and painted details.”

As for Frank Berry, they wrote, “What’s sweet, pink, and animated? More specifically, reanimated. It’s your General Mills Franken Berry 6-inch scale action figure! Fully licensed and articulated, he’s ready to show off all his carry sculpted and painted details. Pose him on a collector’s shelf or next to your breakfast bowl.”

According to General Mills, each of the new toys will come with an alternate head, several accessories, and retro cereal-centric window box packaging. The company says the products are for ages four and up.

And for those wondering if there will be a Boo Berry action figure, well, you’re out of luck. As it currently stands, only Count Chocula and Franken Berry can say that.
