For several weeks, law enforcement officials have been searching for Brian Laundrie. He is a person of interest in the death of Gabby Petito. One person who has joined in on the search is reality television star Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Of course, Dog the Bounty Hunter, whose real name is Duane Chapman, has garnered a lot of attention since he joined the case. And, he has had his share of drama in just the past week. Let’s take a look back at some of the things that he has experienced and done over the last few days.
Oct. 4: Dog the Bounty Hunter Turns Over Evidence to Authorities
Dog the Bounty Hunter is a persistent investigator. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that during his search for Brian Laundrie he found evidence. On Oct. 4, it was reported that he gave evidence he discovered to law enforcement. He hoped that the evidence he found would have DNA belonging to Brian Laundrie on it.
“Tracking a fugitive is a marathon, not a sprint. We are continuing to search for Brian Laundrie. The longer he is on the run, the more dangerous this becomes,” Chapman told The New York Post.
Oct. 5: Champan’s Daughter Blasts Him for His Role in Manhunt; He Cancels Appearance with ‘Duck Dynasty’ Stars
Dog the Bounty Hunter doesn’t have the best relationships with his daughters. For example, the reality television star did not invite daughters Bonnie and Cecily to attend his recent wedding.
On Oct. 5, it was reported that one of those daughters – Cecily – blasted her father for becoming part of the manhunt for Brian Laundrie. “It’s just a publicity stunt. That’s really what it is. He needs to back off and let the FBI handle it,” Cecily told The Sun.
Also on Oct. 5, news came to light that Dog the Bounty Hunter decided not to take part in an event with reality television stars from “Duck Dynasty” and “Swamp People” so he could spend more time searching for Laundrie. The event was the Hazzard Fest in Tennessee.
Oct. 7: Chapman Hit with a $1.3 Million Lawsuit as His Search Continues
Dog the Bounty Hunter’s search for Laundrie didn’t prevent him from being hit was a lawsuit. This $1.3 million suit alleges that Chapman is both homophobic and racist. These accusations were included in court papers.
Part of the court filings stated that Chapman “is a disgraced reality TV star who was fired by Plaintiff after his company discovered that the Defendant had used racial epithets to attack Black teenage Black Lives Matter activists. …” The court filing also claimed that Chapman used “tired homophobic tropes.”
Oct. 8: Chapman Considers Whether or Not Brian Laundrie Could Be a Serial Killer
On Oct. 8, news also came to light that Dog the Bounty Hunter is considering whether or not Laundrie could be a serial killer. He based this assumption on books Laundrie has reportedly read.
“I’m thinking more and more about (Brian Laundrie) being maybe a serial killer. Not just a killer of Gabby,” Chapman told The Sun.
Gabby Petito is the 22-year-old who was found dead in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming on Sept. 19. Laundrie, who is 23 years old, was Petito’s boyfriend. They were traveling across the United States when she went missing.
