Troy Aikman Takes Aim at ‘Big Beer’ with New Brand: Here’s How

Known for his incredible tenure as a Dallas Cowboys quarterback and his NFL commentary, Troy Aikman is looking to broaden his horizons. New reports state he is throwing his hat in the ring with his own beer.

Business Wire broke the story with a news release detailing Troy Aikman’s latest endeavor. Citing a desire to make a good beer while maintaining a healthy lifestyle, EIGHT serves as a happy medium. Toted as a “clean, refreshing lager,” it’s brewed with organic grains and no added preservatives. In the statement, Aikman specifies how it came to be.

“I’ve learned that I’m a better father, friend, and athlete when I am eating and drinking well. I know a lot of people feel the same way,” said Aikman. “Being ‘healthy’ is a balance between physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. I use physical exercise to reduce my stress and support longevity, and practice good nutrition and clean eating to maintain my lifestyle. When it comes to grabbing a beer though, I found that my options were limited. If EIGHT hits the market and offers drinkers an option they don’t need to make excuses to enjoy, that will be a huge win.”

“EIGHT is for the drinker who consistently puts in the hard work,” Aikman continued. “These folks, myself included, are conscious of what we put in our bodies, and options for a light, refreshing beer that’s brewed with organic ingredients are virtually non-existent.”

For those interested, EIGHT launches on draft in bars and restaurants in February. Luckily, retail locations across America start selling EIGHT in March. It will be available in 6-packs, 12-packs, and 19.2 oz single-serve cans.

Troy Aikman Convinced Blake Shelton to Headline a Charity Event

As one might expect from an experienced commentator and beer enthusiast, it turns out Troy Aikman is good with words too. While designing a charity event, Aikman convinced Blake Shelton to headline it.

Specifically, the event is a music festival taking place in Aikman’s hometown of Henryetta, Oklahoma. Looking for a headliner, it hit him like a bolt of lightning to try texting his friend Blake Shelton, iHeart Country stated. His pitch was straightforward and honest, which may explain why Shelton accepted.

“Hey, Blake, I’m going to host a music festival in my hometown Henryetta on June 11,” the pitch began. “It’ll be first-class in every way … I wanted to see if we can talk with your folks about you headlining it. We want an Oklahoma presence, and you’re my first choice. I know these asks can be a pain in the ass, and I don’t want it to be for you, so if you want me to put me in contact with your manager that’s cool, too. Appreciate you.”
