Winter weather has been out of control in many states lately, with the roads becoming nigh impossible to drive on in some situations. While on an icy highway in Wyoming, a state trooper narrowly avoided catastrophe by dodging an out-of-control car that veered off the road.
ABC covered the incident, complete with footage showing the near-miss. A Wyoming state trooper was on the scene dealing with a different car crash when it occurred. In the video, we see the trooper narrowly avoid a white SUV skidding off the icy road.
“CLOSE CALL: Authorities in Wyoming are urging motorists to slow down after a trooper had to dive out of a vehicle that lost control on an icy highway,” the tweet reads.
Luckily, the trooper’s quick reflexes prevented what could have been an even worse accident. The ordeal occurred in Albany County, which is about 25 miles away from Laramie, Wyoming FOX 13 Salt Lake City reported. The outlet also states no one was harmed when the event transpired.
This area is one of many receiving startling amounts of snow and ice. Several parts of Interstate 80, which runs from east to west, and Interstate 25 received closures outright due to the hazardous driving conditions.
Additionally, the Wyoming Highway Patrol posted the same video on their own official Twitter account. “Conditions continue to deteriorate quickly across Wyoming. One of our troopers recorded this video while working a crash on the Interstate. Please slow down, use caution, and plan ahead. For the latest road conditions, check ryoroad.info,” the tweet reads.
Maine State Trooper Rescues Missing Man During Winter Storm
As stated, the winter storms in the past month have been no joke. One late last year hit Maine especially hard, but despite that, a state trooper ventured out and saved a missing man and it was even captured on video.
The Maine State Police Facebook account detailed the incident. On Wednesday 22, 2021 at 5 a.m. they responded to a report stating an elderly man with Alzheimer’s wandered away from his Vassalboro home. Heading to the scene, the troopers spread out and searched the area. Thanks to a town plow truck driver giving them a tip, they more accurately knew where to look. Trooper Tyler Harrington found the man in a ditch and as seen in the video, carried him to his cruiser.
They later identified the 82-year-old as Bernard Perry, who suffered severe hypothermia and frostbite. An ambulance arrived shortly afterward and transported Perry to Maine General Hospital where he luckily survived and recovered from his injuries.
“We are grateful Bernard Perry was found in a timely manner and is recuperating,” the Facebook account posted. “We are also thankful for Trooper Harrington, Maine State Police Troopers, and all Law Enforcement Officers in Maine who do an exceptional job protecting the citizens of Maine and all those who visit our great state.”
