What Is the Powerball Record-High Jackpot?

Monday night’s Powerball drawing didn’t see any jackpot winners. So, now the major winnings are soaring to a number estimated to fall just above $600 million.

This astounding Powerball amount is the ninth-largest Powerball jackpot in the history of the game.

Sure, $600 million is an almost unimaginable amount of cash for any winner.

It’s almost hard to imagine that there have been eight whole Powerball jackpots that fall above this incredible number.

The highest Powerball jackpot in the history of the game came nearly six years ago. In January 2016 the Powerball Jackpot was so high, that it even surpassed the million-dollar mark.

By the time winners were declared on January 13, 2016, the Jackpot for the popular lottery game had gotten as high as $1.586 billion. This is over two times the unbelievable jackpot Powerball players are vying for in tonight’s drawing.

Three separate tickets held these numbers, and the winnings were spread among the three.

The Powerball Has Brought A Ton Of Cash To Some Lucky Players!

Now, this isn’t the first time that lottery winnings have hit a high surpassing the millions many of us dream of into the billion-dollar territory.

In October 2018 and January 2021, the Mega Millions lottery game shattered records with a total winning amount of $1.57 billion and $1.05 billion, respectively.

The Mega Millions winning amount from October 23, 2018, went to a single ticket. This winner was purchased in South Carolina. Last year’s January 22, 2021, Mega Millions winning amount also went to a single winner; this time from Michigan.

The next largest Powerball Jackpot’s that shattered records landed at $768.4 million in March 2019 and $758.7 million on August 23, 2017. However, both of these also went to a single winning ticket; the first from Wisconsin and the other from Massachusetts.

The current Powerball jackpot now promises a record-breaking amount of millions many of us are playing for today.

The numbers drawn on Monday, January 3 were 2,13,32,33,48. The Powerball number was 22.

No Jackpot Winner, But Still Some Pretty Great Wins!

While no one won the massive Jackpot earlier this week, there were still three one-million-dollar tickets that matched all five of the Powerball’s white balls. Two of these winners purchased their tickets in Connecticut; the other in Texas. One Montana player had a winning ticket for $2 million.

According to the Powerball website, this current jackpot is so large that should a winner come from the Powerball winner drawing tonight, Wednesday, January 5, take a cash payout, their take-home would still be well into the hundred million dollar amount.

According to the lottery website, the one-time cash payout amount a Wednesday night Powerball jackpot winner could see could be as high as $409 million. It’s almost impossible to imagine what one could do with winnings this high!
