Widow of Marine Killed in Afghanistan Airport Attack Gives Birth to Their Daughter

Less than a month after 20-year-old marine, Rylee McCollum, was killed during the attack at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, his widow, Jiennah McCollum, has reportedly given birth to their daughter.

According to People, Jiennah gave birth to the fallen marine’s daughter on Monday. Levin Rylee Rose McCollum was born weighing 8lbs 10oz at 2:18 a.m. in San Diego. In a post on Facebook, Jiennah wrote, “Welcome to the world, my sweet baby. I love you with my whole heart”

The post also shared a snapshot of the baby with a pillow of McCollum in his Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform. Jiennah also shared a sweet poem from her father-in-law, Jim McCollum, dedicated to the newborn.

“Levi Rylee Rose, I love you, little girl. You blessed us all with light and love. When you came into this world. Hold on to your mama. She’s needing you right now. You’re precious. You are beautiful. You brought the world together somehow. Your daddy, he’s watching over you.”

The father-in-law also writes that the marine loves the baby and Jienna so much. She always will feel him with her. “A random feather. A subtle touch. I can’t wait to hold you. I’m excited to watch you grow. I love you little Levi Rylee Rose. I wanted you to know.”

Rylee McCollum’s Widow Writes Beautiful Poem About Their Relationship

Following the devastating attack on the Kabul airport, Jiennah shared a special poem she wrote about the relationship between her and fallen marine, Rylee McCollum.

“To the love of my life. Thank you for making believe in myself,” she brings the poem. “Loving me the way no one else did. Making me laugh anytime of the day. Always being someone I could count on. Knowing game better than I knew myself.”

Jiennah also writes that the fallen marine would always cheer her up when she wasn’t at her best and taught her to love her. She thanked him for being the light in her darkest times and for making her happy. 

“I wish I could put into words how much you truly mean to me. We weren’t perfect, but we were perfect for each other,” Jiennah continued. She referred to the marine as the one human she could truly say she loved with her whole existence. She then added that he is her person forever and always. 

Fallen Marine Rylee McCollum Returns Home to His Family 

Prior to the birth of sweet Levi Rylee Rose, Jiennah took to her Facebook to announce that Rylee has finally returned home. A viewing for the marine was held on September 10th.

“Today we got to bring our marine home,” Jiennah begins the post. “Rylee James you are my light and you always will be. I thank you every day for the amazing life you and I made together. We will never forget the amazing man you were. rest easy baby. I love you more than the stars in space.”

She also shared a video of the marine coming home.
