Would You Sip on This Big Red Flavored Beer?

The perfect drink to tailgate with is a beer. But not just any beer. This “Big Red” beer is off-the-charts delicious. Would you try it?

It is currently on the shelves at a brewery in San Antonio.

A few weeks ago, Islla Street Brewing posted all over social media to get “Rojo” out into the world.

“We will keep posting lists of new stores as they come online, and there will be a next wave coming out next week,” the caption said. “Additionally, we have another BIG wave hitting shelves in a few weeks that should find its way to the valley, Houston and Dallas. In the meantime, Houston and Dallas will have it on tap at select locations.”

The beer will be sold in more locations soon. Stay tuned!

When Did the Red Beer Become Something?

According to CBS Austin, this new craft beer was introduced last year in June. During the pandemic, they had nothing else to do, so why not invent an entirely new drink? Then, they finally released it to stores on December 8, 2021. Since then, it has become a fan favorite.

Mysanantonio.com refers to this drink as a sour bubble gum beverage. In fact, they said it was inspired by the barbacoa-synonymous soda. Additionally, CBS recommends barbacoa tacos to pair with this delicious San Antonio beer.

Mysanantonio.com interviewed the owner of the alcoholic beverage the night before it stocked the shelves.

“It feels like Christmas Eve, I’m not gonna lie,” Josh Pena, the creator of Rojo, said. “It’s been me, my brother, and my dad getting this thing started. We started in the smallest way possible and to be on the eve of putting our beer into the H-E-B family is surreal, almost.”

Pena decided to walk around the participating stores on Wednesday, handing out barbacoa tacos to every shopper who purchased the red beer.

The website reported him saying, “It’s the most San Antonio way we could think of to do it.” And they were absolutely right. The local shoppers loved every minute of it from start to finish. I’m sure some even bought multiple cases. That is, if they liked the taste. But how could you not?

Aside from celebrating the release of this brand new beer, San Antonio has some of the best breweries in town. In fact, one of them is Alamo City.

According to sacurrent.com, Alamo City’s craft beer scene has been very popular for years.

In addition to Alamo, they mentioned a few other popular ones that creates space to catch up with friends. They included Flix Brewhouse, Craft Beer Tap Room, and more! We might even see the big red beer at one of these breweries one day!
