Guess what, Outsiders? It looks like someone finally hit the winning Powerball numbers—well, two people! That’s one way to ring in the new year.
Thanks to lottery tickets sold in Wisconsin and California, were winners of the latest jackpot and will split $632 million. According to the California Lottery and CBS news, the winning ticket in California sold at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Sacramento. However, the location of the winning ticket in Wisconsin is currently being kept secret by the Wisconsin Lottery.
45 states play Powerball. This includes Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
The winning numbers for the Powerball jackpot Wednesday drawing night were 6, 14, 25, 33, and 46. The Powerball was 17. These will forever be the winner’s lucky numbers!
The lucky winners have the option of splitting $450 million in cash. Although the jackpot was one of the largest in lottery history, it didn’t rank among the Top 10 largest in U.S. history. But, there is another option for these winners.
If the winners choose to take annual annuities over 29 years, each ticket is worth $316.3 million. However, if the winners decide to get paid immediately, their total winning payment will be $225.1 million. Both of these massive total amounts are also calculated before taxes.
Before two lucky winners hit the jackpot, two of the earlier tickets saw $1 million winners in Connecticut and Texas. However, a lucky ticket holder in Montana claimed $2 million.
As much as we all would’ve loved to hit the jackpot with $632 million, the Connecticut and Texas winners are rather lucky as well.

As satisfying as it is winning any amount of money from the lottery, a couple million sounds pretty nice as well. Although, what would you guys dream of doing if you won $1 billion? In October 2018 and January 2021, the Mega Millions lottery game broke records with two total winning amounts of $1.57 billion and $1.05 billion. That’s Oprah Winfrey territory right there.
On October 23, 2018, the Mega Millions winning total went to only one ticket. This winner purchased the ticket in South Carolina. On January 22, 2021, Mega Millions winning amount went to a single winner. This time, a player from Michigan hit the jackpot.
The next largest Powerball Jackpot’s that took home records in March 2019 hit $768.4 million and $758.7 million on August 23, 2017. However, both of these also went to a single winning ticket. The first winner celebrated from Wisconsin and the other from Massachusetts.
