WATCH: Out-of-Control Car Goes Airborne, Flies into Front of a New Jersey Wendy’s

by Matthew Memrick

A New Jersey motorist lost control and went airborne, crashing into a crowded Wendy’s last week, and videos caught the incident.

The car hit another car in the drive-thru lane and narrowly missed a family eating outside at a table. Two people suffered injuries.

“This is nothing short of a miracle that no one was seriously injured or killed in this crash,” South Brunswick Chief Raymond Hayducka told Patch.

“To think it was the middle of the day, people were eating both inside and outside, and none of them were injured,” Hayducka told ABC 6.

According to the South Brunswick Police Department, a 2008 Toyota Corolla ran off the road and hit an embankment around 1 p.m. on Aug. 16. It flew through the air across the Wendy’s parking lot and crashed into the building and an Audi waiting in the drive-thru line. The car amazingly missed the family.

Two cameras caught the crazy scene, showing that the Toyota hit a table next to the family’s table.

Police said EMS personnel took the Toyota driver to the hospital. The driver reportedly ma may have suffered from a medical emergency. Family members took a child in the Audi to the hospital.

The building is not inhabitable after the damage.

One town resident commented on Twitter that “with our lack of actual medians in this town, I’m really surprised this doesn’t happen more often here.”

Another Crazy Crash Caught On Video, Like Viral One Wendy’s

A family caught a car flying through the air on its car camera in late July. The wreck happened in Yuba City, California.

Complex reported that alcohol was not a factor in the daytime crash. The driver allegedly hit a car before the wreck and fled.

KOVR reported that a witness said the car’s driver was speeding and failed to drive through a sharp turn. Like the Wendy’s wreck, that mistake ended with the car going airborne and crashing.

“Pretty crazy to see someone flying through the air,” Brian Canejo said.

ABC 30 said the woman driver survived the wreck.

“When we got to review the tape, and we got to see the person actually like beating the cars down the freeway,” said Canejo, who works at a nearby equipment store.

A Carl’s Jr. Also Saw a Wild Wreck

A 2020 video caught two California cars involved in a late-night wreck in Sunnyvale.

KTLA said the Camero went airborne and crashed into the side of the fast-food restaurant. The wreck was similar to the Wendy’s one in New Jersey.

Police said two cars collided, and a white Camaro lost control after hitting another vehicle. A metal railing stopped the car from crashing, but the car destroyed the building’s door.

Video shows the front part of the Camero suffering from damage. Emergency workers took a woman passenger to the hospital. She complained of pain after the incident.
