The woman, who tried to abduct Joe Montana’s sleeping granddaughter, doesn’t have a reason why. She has no clue why she did it, according to her lawyer.

According to lawyer Ayinde Jones, the woman has “no hindsight, no clue as yet on why she did what she did, only that she is very apologetic.”

Sodsai Predpring Dalzell pled not guilty to felony charges of attempted kidnapping of a child under 14 and burglary. If convicted, Dalzell faces eight years in prison.

The woman broke into Joe Montana’s Malibu home.

According to authorities, 39-year-old Dalzell broke into the NFL legend‘s Malibu home last weekend (Sept. 26). She attempted to kidnap Montana’s nine-month-old granddaughter from her playpen. Montana and his wife, Jennifer, stopped Dalzell and demanded the baby back. A brief struggle ensued, but Jennifer managed to rescue the child

Dalzell fled the house, but police later arrested her. She has no prior criminal record.

“Miss Dalzell is extremely apologetic and is very well concerned about the well-being of the family,” Jones said after the hearing. “She understands the harm that this has caused the family, friends and also fans of the Montana family. So our heart goes out to them.”

Jones said Dalzell’s defense team will focus on his client getting “the help” she may need. The judge set Dalzell’s bail at $200,000. She will appear in court again on Oct. 20.

“She has told me over and over again that she understands the harm that she has caused,” Jones said. “As a parent myself, I can only imagine the pain that it has caused the Montana family.”

In the NFL, Montana won four Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers. He has been retired since 1994 after a 15 year career. Montana went on Twitter after the break-in to thank his followers for their thoughts and prayers. He described the situation as “scary.”
