Billy Bob Thornton already has plans after 1883.

In a new interview with People, the legendary actor revealed that he plans to work in numerous areas of entertainment.

“I think I’ll probably try to strike a balance between music, movies, and TV,” he said of his future plans. “I mean, you know, if you can do one each, each year, if I can make a record and go on tour, if I can make one movie and one TV thing, that that seems pretty good, you know? … And I’ve got kids to take care of, so you know, why not?”

If you didn’t know, Thornton is the lead singer of his band The Boxmasters since 2007. He founded the group alongside J.D. Andrew and has released ten records. But for now, he’s promoting the Yellowstone spin-off.

“These days, the streaming shows and things like 1883 are so much like movies,” he continued. “I mean, they’re cinematic and you can develop a story over a period of episodes, so I’m all for it. I think it’s kind of the future in a lot of ways.”

Thornton has kept himself busy with projects prior to 1883. He starred in Amazon Prime’s Goliath and Fargo on FX. His new role was written specifically for him by creator Taylor Sheridan. He portrays Marshal Jim Courtright. The character has been described as “a no-nonsense officer who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty.”

Tim McGraw on Joining’1883′

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are doing something that most haven’t been able to do, work together on a series as a real-life married couple.

“We were in bed last night and talked for two hours because we got so caught up in the moment that we almost couldn’t even remember it,” Tim McGraw told Parade. “I told her, ‘This is incredible. How many married couples ever get a chance to do what we’re doing right now?”

It didn’t come as a surprise that McGraw signed on for a television series about Western culture. He has numerous acting credits to his name and is obviously a country music superstar. Fans were a bit shocked that Hill signed on alongside him. Though she has fourteen acting credits, her last project was in 2017. So how did they get involved in the project? They were amazed by Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River.

“We were like, ‘Who the hell wrote and directed this? This is so good,’” Hill told the outlet. “It begins with a song. If the song is right, then you don’t give it a second thought, because writing is a real craft that should be respected. We read the material and we were like, ‘How can we not do it?’”

Hill noted that not everything is easy on set. The intimate scenes were particularly hard for the pair. The sweltering heat was also extremely intense, without air-conditioned separate trailers. However, it’s been a dream to work alongside her husband doing more than music.

“What more could you ask for? We’re working together on our 25th anniversary on an incredible show with great people,” she concluded.

1883 will premiere on December 19 on Paramount +. In the meantime, you can catch up on Yellowstone season 4 on the same streaming service.
