‘1883’: Faith Hill Announces Exciting News, Gives Fans a Glimpse of Script for ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff

Today is a great day to be a fan of the “Yellowstone” television universe! News just broke that some very, very big names in entertainment will be starring in the upcoming spinoff series from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan. The spinoff is the prequel, “1883.”

These very, very big names include popular Western actor and star, Sam Elliott. As well as country music megastars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. And, on Wednesday, Aug. 4, Hill took to social media to share her excitement about being part of the “1883” spinoff.

Wednesday afternoon, she posted a five-second video of her hiding her face with the cover of the “1883” script to Twitter. Along with the video, she added a statement. According to Hill, she will be playing the character of Margaret Dutton in this “Yellowstone” prequel. Her real life husband, Tim McGraw, will be playing James Dutton, her character’s spouse. Hill also promises that fans will be surprised by the new show.

Here’s what Faith Hill had to say: “Finally the day has come when I get to share some exciting news with you! I will be playing Margaret Dutton, the original matriarch of the Dutton family in the Yellowstone prequel 1883. Just wait, you have never seen anything like this! @paramountplus.”

In addition to the video and statement, Faith Hill also shared a close-up photo of the cover of the “1883” script. The photo shows that the first episode of “1883” was written and directed by Taylor Sheridan. If that doesn’t make fans of “Yellowstone” happy, maybe nothing will.

Hill, McGraw Playing Dutton Family Ancestors in Upcoming Prequel

The characters being played by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw in “1883” are believed to be the patriarch and matriarch of the Dutton family viewers have come to know during the “Yellowstone” series. What they do will lay the groundwork for the drama that has already played out in the popular Western show.

According to TV Line, Faith Hill also said getting the chance to play a part in “1883” was not to be missed.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime,” Hill shared. “The Duttons are a formidable family, and it is an absolute dream to bring such a strong female character like Margaret Dutton to life. I am humbled and honored to work with Taylor and his entire team.”

Unsurprisingly, Tim McGraw is also excited to be part of the project.

“This is truly a dream job. …” McGraw also said.

In “1883,” Sam Elliott has also been cast in the role of Shea Brennan. Brennan is a cowboy who is in charge of leading the Duttons from Texas to Montana.

Faith Hill, Tim McGraw Have Acted Prior to Getting Cast in “Yellowstone” Prequel, “1883”

Faith Hill isn’t really a stranger to acting. The 53-year-old country star appeared in the 2004 film “The Stepford Wives” and in the 2017 film “Dixieland,” according to IMDb. She has also acted on television before. In 1997, she appeared in an episode of “Touched By An Angel” and in an episode of “Promised Land.”

Tim McGraw also has acting credits to his name. Also according to IMDb, this 54-year-old star has appeared in such films as “The Blind Side,” “Four Christmases,” “Flicka,” and “Friday Night Lights.”
