T-minus 14 days until the premiere of 1883! Can you even contain your excitement? We sure can’t.

And neither can LaMonica Garrett, one of the show’s new shining stars.

Today, Garrett posted a set pic on his official Instagram page to mark the final countdown. And the actor looks straight out of the 19th century, just as he should.

“In just 2 weeks, the premiere of @1883official A @yellowstone origin story,” he captioned.

In a black and white photo, Garret is wearing some old-fashioned cowboy garb as he rides his horse across the plains of Texas, bound for the untouched land of Yellowstone.

Who Will LaMonica Garrett Play?

Just as LaMonica Garret wrote, 1883 is the Yellowstone origin story. In it, a past generation of Duttons will embark on a journey from Texas to Montana. And once they arrive, they’ll build the ranch that John Dutton runs in the present day.

In the show, Garrett will play Thomas—Shea Brennan’s (Sam Elliott) right-hand man. Brennan is a Pinkerton Agent who leads James and Margaret Dutton’s wagon train out west.

Watch the ‘1883’ Official Trailer

On December 3rd, Paramount dropped the first full official 1883 trailer, and it’s epic.

If you’ve been dying to learn more about Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone origin story, today is your lucky day. Or rather, yesterday was your lucky day. Because Paramount finally gave us a complete peek into the Dutton universe.

In a two-minute video, Taylor Sheridan proves that 1883 is a proper Western with gunfights, stagecoaches, and cowboys. And Sam Elliott’s Shea Brennan is front and center as one of the main stars, which is a surprise.

Originally, Elliot was going to play a small role that wouldn’t put him on the screen often. But the trailer proves that Elliot has just as much screen time as the main characters James and Margaret, who are played by country singing power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

And Elliot is thrilled to be part of the Yellowstone franchise. In a statement, the actor had nothing but kind things to say about creator Taylor Sheridan and the resurging Western genre.

“It all starts with the writing. And Taylor Sheridan is a brilliant writer,” Elliott said after his 1883 casting announcement.

“I think the Western genre speaks clearly to both of us,” he continued. “The classic struggles of man against man, man against nature, and man against himself. It’s all there, in 1883, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

Catch the premiere of 1883 exclusively on Paramount+ December 19th.
