In a matter of days, “1883” will pop up on Paramount Plus and Outsiders will have a new indulgence.

One thing that “1883” has going for it is a terrific cast with plenty of household names filling its ranks. One such actor joining the cast is former professional athlete LaMonica Garrett. If that name sounds familiar it is likely because Garrett is a former “Slamball” superstar. Now a part of the “1883” cast, LaMonica Garrett is thrilled that the premiere date is almost here. He took to social media on Wednesday to share a set photo with fans and also express his excitement for his latest project.

“Storms coming December 19,” he says in the social media post.

Garrett’s photo shows a beaten-up wagon. Perhaps a taste of things to come?

“1883” is a nice little Christmas present from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan to fans of the hit show. “Yellowstone” is more than excited for the premiere of “1883” as it will give us the history of the famed cattle ranch.

The upcoming prequel is the first of two planned “Yellowstone” spinoffs — the other, “6666” does not yet have an official timeline. The prequel will take us back in time to the titular year and reveal how the powerful Dutton family came to settle in Montana. It will also give us a bit of the backstory about how the “Yellowstone” Ranch came to be one of the biggest cattle ranches in the country.

The origin story will revolve around James and Margaret Dutton. The two are direct ancestors of the current “Yellowstone” Ranch owner, John Dutton. We also hope to learn the depth of the conflict between the Dutton family and the Broken Rock Tribe.

‘1883’ Brings Together an Outstanding Cast of Characters

Taylor Sheridan took an unconventional path in putting together the “1883” cast with a couple of unusual additions.

Sheridan shocked the world when it was revealed that a country music power couple will be taking on the lead roles. “Don’t Take the Girl” and “Live Like You Were Dying” singer Tim McGraw will play James Dutton. McGraw’s wife, fellow country music superstar Faith Hill will be playing his on-screen wife, Margaret Dutton.

As incredible as it was to learn the news about the country couple, there was much more in the works. It was later announced that western legend Sam Elliott would also be assuming a lead “1883” role.

As if that weren’t enough to put “1883” in elite territory, Hollywood megastars Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Hanks will also be a part of the cast.

Along with another brand new “Yellowstone” episode, we will also be getting the debut of “1883” this Sunday, Dec. 19.
