‘1883’s Margaret Dutton Actor Faith Hill: Where You’ve Seen Grammy Award Winning Singer On-Screen Before

by Keeli Parkey

Faith Hill is most widely known as a country music superstar. However, she has also had several acting roles during her decades-long entertainment career. And as was recently reported, the 53-year-old star will soon be playing a key role in the upcoming “Yellowstone” spinoff, “1883.”

So, the “This Kiss” singer will be bringing some acting experience to her role as matriarch Margaret Dutton in the “Yellowstone” prequel. Another bit of information that should have many fans of the “Yellowstone” universe truly excited for “1883” is that Time McGraw – Faith Hill’s famous husband in real life– will be playing the character of James Dutton in the spinoff.

Also, James Dutton is the husband of Margaret Dutton. James and Margaret are ancestors of Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton – and the family viewers have followed for several seasons – in the hit series “Yellowstone.”

‘1883’ Star Faith Hill Earned Her First Acting Credit During 1997

With Faith Hill preparing for her role in the upcoming “1883” prequel alongside her husband, Tim McGraw, now is a perfect time to look back on the “The Way You Love Me” singer’s acting career. According to IMDb, Hill’s acting credentials go back all the way to 1997.

During 1997, Faith Hill appeared in not one, but two television series. The first was “Touched By An Angel.” In this popular series, she played the character of Karen Lamar. This episode was titled, “The Road Home: Part 1.”

Also in 1997, Hill returned as Karen Lamar in the “Promised Land” episode titled “The Road Home: Part 2.”

Flash forward a few years. Faith Hill is acting in a feature film with some very big names in movies. Those stars include Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler, Glenn Close, Christopher Walken, and Jon Lovitz. Hill worked with these stars in the 2004 film, “The Stepford Wives.”

This 2004 film was also directed by Frank Oz. Moviegoers will recognize Oz as the man who provided the voice of Yoda in the “Star Wars” film franchise.

In “The Stepford Wives,” Faith Hill played the character of Sarah Sunderson. Also, the 2004 movie was a remake of the 1975 film of the same name. You can watch the trailer for Faith Hill’s film, “The Stepford Wives,” below.

Hill Shares Excitement For ‘1883’ Prequel

Faith Hill’s most recent acting gig, according to IMDb, was the 2017 film “Dixieland.”

In this film, Hill played the character of Arlette. The film’s plot is: “A young, recently-released and unpredictable ex-con with bad luck, and a sexy, listless girl-next-door with a troubled family, become trapped in a downward spiral of crime and obsessive love, as they try to ditch their dead-end town for a better life.” “Dixieland” was written and directed by Hank Bedford.

Unsurprisingly, Faith Hill is very happy to be part of the upcoming “1883” prequel in the “Yellowstone” universe. She shared her excitement via Twitter earlier this week.

“Finally the day has come when I get to share some exciting news with you! I will be playing Margaret Dutton, the original matriarch of the Dutton family in the Yellowstone prequel 1883. Just wait, you have never seen anything like this! @paramountplus,” Faith Hill shared on Twitter.
