‘1883’ star Faith Hill opened up recently in an interview with People Magazine. The actress shares the emotional highs and lows of grief. Additionally, Hill opens up about how her husband, Tim McGraw, has been there for her through it all. When Hill’s dad, Ted Perry, passed in 2019, it took a hefty toll on the actress and her relationship. “It was a long passing,” says Hill, 54, whose mother, Edna, passed in 2016.”It’s difficult to lose parents just a couple of years apart and watch them pass right in front of you. My dad had Lewy body dementia and it was difficult to watch a man you know be someone that you don’t recognize.”

Hill continues, telling People, “My dad adored Tim and Tim would visit him daily. He was so present for the passing of both my parents. You reveal yourself when you are going through struggles and that’s just another layer of partnership.”

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Say Dedication is at the Heart of Their Marriage

Like any long-term relationship, there are certainly lows that come along with the highs. After 25 strong years together, it’s undeniable that McGraw and Hill have been there to lean on each other. Tim McGraw tells People of his marriage, “We just feel fortunate and blessed and grateful for our kids and all the things we’ve gone through, the ups and downs.”

Throughout their marriage, McGraw has faced hefty personal challenges as well. It’s undeniable that the strength of his union with his wife Faith Hill helped him through those dark times. McGraw has been open about his past struggles with drinking, and also losing his own father. McGraw once shared in an interview the moment he felt he hit rock bottom with his drinking. “I remember a moment when I was getting out of bed and going to the liquor cabinet and taking a big shot at 8:00 in the morning and thinking, ‘I have to wake the kids up. I went straight to my wife and said, ‘This is where I’m at.’ I was scared. She just grabbed me and hugged me and changed my life.”

How McGraw Stays Strong with the Help of His Family

McGraw went on to detail his struggles with alcoholism, saying “When your wife tells you it’s gone too far, that’s a big wake-up call. That, and realizing you’re gonna lose everything you have. Not monetarily, not career-wise, but family-wise. It got to the point where my kids were getting older, and it was way past the point that they noticed it. And I noticed that they noticed. That’s enough to straighten you out … I drank too much. I partied too much. And did other things too much. Chemically. No needles or that kind of stuff, but … use your imagination.”

In the 13 years since getting sober, McGraw has leaned on his family at low points. McGraw tells People, “It’s always a struggle. It’s never not a struggle, Those demons always come back. But you always have a partner that’s willing to fight them with you. We made a commitment to each other a long time ago that we’re not going to give up. It’s too easy to give up. When you love someone, you commit to be there for them for the highs, the lows, anytime. You face the struggles.”

The love between Faith Hill and Tim McGraw is clearly a strong one and it’s admirable. The couple will appear in their first collaborative acting project, ‘1883’ premiering on Paramount+ on December 19th. 1883 serves as a prequel to ‘Yellowstone’.
