“1883” star Tim McGraw took a brief break from filming to perform at the Minnesota State Fair. But now he’s back and ready for action.
Filming began for the “Yellowstone” spin-off show last month. The cast and crew are currently working out of Fort Worth, Texas. Eventually, they’ll make their way north to Montana and the Dutton Ranch, where the first season ends.
McGraw and his wife Faith Hill will play James and Margaret Dutton, the great-grandparents of modern-day John Dutton (Kevin Costner). “1883” will follow their journey from Texas up through the Great Plains, as they seek a new life and escape from their old one.
Per his website, McGraw still has a few music shows coming up in the next few months. He’ll have to work his filming schedule around them, just like he did this past week when performing at the Minnesota State Fair.
The country superstar posted a pic from last night’s concert to his Instagram page. The photographer captured the “1883” star from behind, showing McGraw standing in front of the rows of audience members. An overhead life shines directly into the camera, backlighting McGraw. He also has one fist raised, showing off his strength and power.
Apparently, McGraw will need that strength when he returns to the “1883” set.
Bad guys, huh? We know the Duttons will experience some difficulties on their travels because they’re going right through the heart of the Wild West. But hopefully, it’s nothing the Duttons can’t handle.
‘1883’ Set Photos Leak Showing Tim McGraw and Sam Elliott in Character
Apparently, Fort Worth, Texas, has a steady stream of “Yellowstone” and “1883” fans. On Reddit, some users are already posting sneaky photos taken of the set and cast while filming.
We’ve already seen one fan capture a surprise Jeff Bridges appearance, causing some to wonder if he’ll be on the show. But another fan recently posted some behind-the-scenes looks at Tim McGraw and co-star Sam Elliott in full “1883” costume.
You can see the photos for yourself on Reddit here. Basically, McGraw wears a typical old-fashioned vest and jacket, complete with a cowboy hat, some kind of scarf, and revolvers at his waist. Elliott rocks a similar uniform, only he’s also grown out his mustache a bit. The bushy handlebar definitely seems to fit the time period.
But fans will have to wait until December 19 to see the “1883” cast in action. The show will drop on Paramount+. Until then, we’ll have to satisfy ourselves with “Yellowstone” Season 4, which drops Nov. 7.
