The country music power couple of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will be taking their talents to the big screen on the set of the Yellowstone spinoff, 1883.
The upcoming Yellowstone origin series is, of course, another Western drama. It will tell the backstory of the Dutton family before they had money, power, and control of the largest contiguous ranch in the entire country. Fans were stunned to find out that country stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will play leading roles in the new show, as James and Margaret Dutton. Just like Yellowstone, 1883 is set to stream on Paramount Plus.
“A lot of you have probably heard by now that we are on to a new project,” McGraw says in the video. “Faith and I get to star alongside Sam Elliott. I mean, goodness gracious! For the new ‘Yellowstone’ prequel called ‘1883’.”
“It’s going to be a fantastic family saga about the original Duttons, their journey to Montana, and how they founded their ranch up there,” he says.
Taylor Sheridan, of course, is the creator of 1883, just like he’s the creator of Yellowstone. That in itself probably has a lot to do with why McGraw agreed to act in the new project.
“He’s one of the most special writers I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading material from,” McGraw adds. “We couldn’t be more excited.”
“So excited I can finally share this….. Im joining the Dutton family in the @Yellowstone prequel, 1883, coming to @paramountplus!” McGraw captioned his latest post. “And my incredible wife Faith Hill will be playing Margaret Dutton!!”
‘Yellowstone’ Fans React to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Being Cast in ‘1883’
Yellowstone already has a huge fan base, but now they will perhaps draw in even more fans from the country music industry. Just about everyone right now is excited about the addition of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to 1883. The official Yellowstone Instagram account left “clapping” emojis on McGraw’s announcement as to offer him a round of applause.
Others commented on how excited they are for the new spinoff as well. Even Yellowstone star Kevin Costner — the man behind John Dutton — left a comment saying, “Dutton looks good on you.” Pretty high praise right there.
Even Tim McGraw’s youngest daughter, 19-year-old Audrey McGraw, is excited for her parents. She left a message on her dad’s announcement video writing, “WOOOHOOO!!! 🔥”
In the video, McGraw doesn’t look like the clean-cut country music star we are used to seeing on stage. As a matter of fact, he has grown out quite the beard. He definitely looks like he belongs out west on a ranch somewhere.
“A lot of you asked about my beard, so now you know why.”
