As this breakdown shows, Yellowstone Season 4 hit the ground running with an incredible score from some of Hollywood’s top talent.

What a 24 hours it has been for Yellowstone fans. Sunday, Nov. 7 saw the return of cable’s #1 drama to raucous results. Over 8 million individual homes and/or accounts tuned in for the Season 4 premiere. But the buzz is far from over, and continues on well into Monday night.

Somewhere along the way, Hollywood composer Brian Tyler (of Marvel Cinematic Universe fame) dropped a fantastic behind-the-scenes look at the musical composition of Yellowstone‘s return to television. Tyler is… Not quite what fans of the show will expect for a Western collaborator. But talent comes in all shapes and sizes.

Yellowstone Season 4 premieres tonight! Here is a breakdown of the orchestra and 2 solo violins that are part of the score. Soundtrack album from me and co-composer @BretonVivian coming soon on @LakeshoreRecs.” the composer posts to his official Twitter. He elaborates within:

“Something I really like to do, even when I’m using orchestras, is to use a violin solo over the top of it to emphasize the melody,” Tyler begins. “Even with two violins doing a harmony, like this,” he says as a clip from the Yellowstone premiere’s soundtrack begins.

Unable to show footage from the premiere itself, the composer overlays his work onto the Season 4 trailer. “It really brings it out,” he says of the moody violin solos.

Of this, follower Kraemen replies that “This music takes the show into deep emotional places. Just perfection.”

As fan Dina Marie agrees, “The music is unbelievable. Bravo Bravo!”

‘Yellowstone’s Musical Talent to Tackle ‘1883’ Spinoff Next

The score is a genuine highlight for the first two episodes of Yellowstone Season 4, indeed. The premiere swings big and mostly hits, but the few pulled punches are easily forgiven by the atmosphere at play. And a tremendous part of that atmosphere is the brilliant score.

In addition, Brian Tyler follower Vigil echoes this, replying “I LOVE the two solos playing off each other. It’s amazing.”

Moreover, Michelle P. agrees, commenting “Wow! That’s amazing on how you tie it all in. Thank you!”

Such high praise is met with more good news, too. Tyler, along with series composer Breton Vivian, will also be scoring the first Yellowstone spinoff, 1883. The historic prequel even offered up our first taste of their collaboration in the recent trailer. Take a look/listen:

Starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott, 1883: A Yellowstone Story is sure to please fans of the original show. If early social media buzz is to go by, however, then it’ll be a hit far beyond that core audience.

We’ll find out come December 19 as 1883 continues on Yellowstone‘s Sunday dominance.
