Here’s When You Can Watch ‘1883’ Episode 4 on Paramount Plus

While the Yellowstone finale took television by storm, there is no new episode of 1883 this week. When can you watch Episode 4 of the prequel?

Thanks to series star LaMonica Garrett, we know that Season 1, Episode 4 of 1883 has been pushed back. Episode 4 was originally set to hit Paramount Plus the night of Sunday, January 2. Now, however, Garrett confirms that 1883‘s Episode 4 will hit Paramount Plus Sunday, Jan. 9 at 3 A.M. Eastern.

This week-long delay comes as the show’s tentpole, Yellowstone, wraps up its Season 4 with a riveting finale. Which may be exactly why we’re waiting another 7 days for 1883 to continue.

1883 is also still in production, which is typical for television shows as they air. The delay may also be due to further post-production work being needed.

In the Meantime: Watch ‘1883’s BTS Special, ‘The Road West’

In the meantime, Paramount brought fans a behind-the-scenes special Sunday night with “The Road West.”

The first special of its kind for the prequel, this placeholder delivers a riveting look behind the show’s masterful production. There’s plenty to see here; from interviews with cast and crew to direct looks at the unparalleled locations and sets of the 19th century Western.

As the show says themselves, “So much work went into bringing #1883TV to life. Go behind the scenes with “The Road West,” a new special streaming now on @ParamountPlus.”

Since its debut on Dec. 19, 2021, 1883 would become the #1 show streaming on the relatively new Paramount Plus. With almost 5 million viewers in the first 24 hours, the Yellowstone prequel proved it has serious legs. Here’s to hoping, however, that this week-long delay doesn’t dent this momentum as it’s a truly spectacular series.

LaMonica Garrett’s Love for the Genre Shines

While the show’s household names (such as Sam Elliott) have yet to comment on the hiatus, it’s fitting that LaMonica Garrett is the one to keep fans abreast. His passion for the material and his character, Pinkerton Agent Thomas, shines on and off-screen. And when we had the chance to speak with the actor he was thrilled to divulge more about the history he’s portraying in 1883.

“Pinkertons were one of the first agencies to hire black people,” Garrett told Outsider in December. “And they were one of the first agencies to hire women. These were big deals back then!”

To sum up Pinkertons best, Garrett says “They were the original Secret Service. They protected Abraham Lincoln – not when John Wilkes Booth was there – but before, there was another attempt on his life. And they were there! Through this, Abraham Lincoln is vouching for them as this ‘big agency.’

“And they were! They were bigger than the military back then,” he adds of the Westward Expansion in which 1883 takes place. “And this was because of Abraham Lincoln vouching for them, so they were huge back then. Pinkerton agents have such a rich history all throughout this country.”
