How ‘Yellowstone’ Fans Feel About the ‘1883’ Flashback Scene With Tim McGraw

Country music star Tim McGraw is taking his talents to the set of the Yellowstone spin-off, 1883, and fans are here for it.

1883 is an upcoming Yellowstone origin series. Like its predecessor, 1883 will be yet another Western drama. The show tells the backstory behind the Dutton family. In Yellowstone, the Duttons have money, power, and ownership of the largest contiguous ranch in the entire United States. 1883, starring Tim McGraw and his wife, fellow country star, Faith Hill, will tell the story before any of that had come to be.

1883 also has more in common with the fan-favorite show Yellowstone. Both shows share the same creator — Taylor Sheridan. Not only that but both shows will be streaming on Paramount Plus.

Speaking of which, we just recently got our first glimpse of Tim McGraw in action. The official Instagram account for Yellowstone posted a clip from the Season 4 premiere showing a flashback that shows McGraw’s character negotiating with a native tribe. In the video, you may notice that McGraw doesn’t look like the clean-cut country star we are used to seeing. He has since grown out quite the glorious beard and he looks perfect for the part.

“@thetimmcgraw made his #YellowstoneTV debut during the premiere episode of season 4.”

‘Yellowstone’ Fans React to Scene with Tim McGraw

It goes without saying that Yellowstone fans were excited to see Tim McGraw pop up in the Season 4 premiere. Many of them responded on social media with their thoughts.

“He’s so good. His acting is so good you forget sometimes he’s a country super star.”

However, some fans thought that Sam Elliott, the actor who is also slated to star in 1883, would have been perfect for the scene.

“Nothing against Mr. McGraw, I didn’t even realize it was him,” another Yellowstone fan said. “But I think Sam Elliott would have been perfect for this scene. I know he’ll be in the new show but for this scene, with Mr. Elliot and his mustache and deep voice would have been perfect.”

Meanwhile, other users on Instagram added their opinions about the relationship between McGraw’s character and the Native American tribe.

“I love this scene so much. Respect on both sides. Well written.”

“I love this part, shows what kindness can do.”

“This scene gave me goosebumps. I am native Indian too so I know the pain when your land gets taken away.”

“This broke my heart. I understand the connection one can have to ‘the land ‘the whenua’. I appreciate that a show like Yellowstone highlighted the ‘age old tale’ of land ownership and the plight of indigenous peoples then. Unfortunately, we don’t seem to have learned from history. Even now in the 21st century.
