As Yellowstone fans count down the days until the premiere of the fourth season, news that most likely affects the future of the show has come to light.
Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan will reportedly purchase the renowned Four Sixes Ranch in North Texas. The ranch is one of the biggest in Texas and one of the biggest in the United States at approximately 266,255 acres. The huge ranch is known for producing some of the top cattle in the country and has held success for well over a century. It is an estimated 416 square miles in total property, which makes it similar in size to the city of San Antonio, Texas.
The ranch went up for sale in late 2020 after a death in the family that owns the ranch. According to Texas media outlet The Texas Spur, the asking price on the ranch was north of $340 million. Now, the Yellowstone creator is under contract to purchase the well-known Texas ranch.
The report states the Four Sixes Ranch divides into three separate properties that must be purchased together. That is reportedly what Sheridan plans to do as this is the first time in its history that the storied ranch has come under contract. Texas-based broker group Chas. S. Middleton and Son confirmed Sheridan is the primary buyer. The group plans to carry on the 6666 tradition and stay in the ranching business. The ranch’s brand is one of the most recognizable in the cattle industry.
Yellowstone Spinoff Will Take Place at ‘6666’ Ranch
Yellowstone officials revealed earlier this year they are planning a spinoff series that will be called 6666, though not a lot is known about the project. Sheridan declined to comment on the pending transaction but notes he intends to continue the ranch’s legacy.
Details on the upcoming 6666 project are scarce but we do know a few things about the show. Current Yellowstone Ranch hands Jimmy (Jefferson White) and Walker (Ryan Bingham) will be part of the cast. Other Yellowstone cast members, like Kelly Reilly, have put out teasers that they could also head to Texas. The Beth Dutton actress recently took to social media to share a photo of her time at the ranch.
Naturally, some Yellowstone fans took the Instagram post as Reilly confirming her involvement in the spinoff.
It is an exciting time to be a Yellowstone fan.
