Part of the fun of being a “Yellowstone” fan is discussing hypotheticals with fellow watchers of the modern western drama series.

Social media and various other internet sites are littered with “Yellowstone” fans who want to discuss their favorite show. Fans of the show love to share their theories on what might or might not happen next. They also enjoy discussing their favorite characters and just where their storylines could be heading. In a recent Reddit thread, “Yellowstone” watchers discuss a “what if” scenario involving Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton.

“How do you think Rip will feel when John Dutton dies and Beth sells the ranch?” the Reddit user asks. “The ranch has been his whole life.”

It’s an excellent question and a potentially realistic scenario that we could see play out in the “Yellowstone” future. Rip Wheeler, Beth Dutton’s soon-to-be husband, is as attached to the Dutton Ranch as anyone. His entire life revolves around making sure the ranch is operating at a high level. Rip was taken in by the Dutton family after becoming an orphan due to the death of his mother and father. Rip repays this debt with undying loyalty to the family. In addition to his duties on the ranch, Rip also serves as the enforcer for the Dutton family. He’s shown time and time again that he has no problem doing their dirty work.

There is also the question of whether or not Beth Dutton would actually sell the “Yellowstone” Ranch.

“Beth keeps saying to Rip that there will come a day when he had wished they had a kid,” a Reddit user says, “A day will come when he resents her for it. This is what I think she means. No direct heir means she doesn’t have interest in keeping it.”

‘Yellowstone’ Fans Swap Theories on Rip and Beth’s Future

It is possible that upon John Dutton’s passing that Rip and Beth are on different pages regarding the ranch. In a previous episode, Beth has said she doesn’t care what happens to the “Yellowstone” ranch after her father dies.

“Rip cannot comprehend a life where he doesn’t have to work to put food on the table,” another fan says. “And like others have said, his loyalty is to John, not the ranch. And now it is with Beth. So if they sell the ranch and leave multi multi-millionaires, I think Rip will be fine as long as Beth is in his life.”

Through three seasons of the show, we have seen John Dutton have a number of close calls. What happens to the “Yellowstone” Ranch after his death is likely to play into the show’s plot at some point.

Until then, we can speculate all we want. The next “Yellowstone” season four episode will arrive this Sunday.
