We have another doozy for all of you loyal Yellowstone fans out there. We need to know how you feel about the dynamic between John Dutton, Jamie Dutton, and Beth Dutton.
As most of you already know, John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) is the owner of Yellowstone Ranch — the largest contiguous ranch in the entire United States. He and his late wife, Evelyn Dutton, were blessed with four kids: Lee, Jamie, Beth, and Kayce. They all lived and grew up on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.
One of those children, Jamie Dutton, was originally an orphan who was adopted by John and Evelyn. However, he grew up on the ranch right alongside the rest of his siblings. But he is the focus of one user on Reddit by the name of u/manofwater3615. They made a post titled, “Treatment of Jamie in Season 1 (Spoiler).
“Why do his dad and sister hate him so much and why did they treat him so badly at the end?” the OP asks. “Am I missing something? Just finished S1 so no future spoilers please.”
‘Yellowstone’ Fans Respond to Reddit Question
If you are an avid follower of the hit Paramount Network show, then you probably have your own thoughts on the John-Jamie-Beth dynamic. Fans of the show on Reddit were quick to reply to the original post.
“Beth’s reason is revealed in S3,” one fan replied. “Her hate makes a lot of sense once you know about it but she is still way over the top about it like she always is. I have mixed feelings about it. I’m not a woman so I’ll never understand but it really feels like the way she handles it (and pretty much everything) is super childish.”
“John’s hate is not justified at all,” another person responded. “Like Jamie literally does everything for the family name and John disowned him for missing a phone call. I have 0 doubt that if Jamie had answered that call, he would have been there asap. But he missed it and John threw a hissy fit.”
Evidently, other Yellowstone fans share that same feeling about John Dutton. They don’t believe that his feelings toward Jamie are justified either.
“John’s reasons are totally flawed, in my honest opinion,” explained a third fan. “Both in Season 1 and beyond. He’s a complete jackass to Jamie and it’s pretty — no, completely — inexcusable when you find out why.”
“Agreed,” another Redditor added. “John’s hate for Jamie boils down to a missed phone call and I think that was really dumb.”
