“Yellowstone” fans are weighing in on the relationship between Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley). And they’re worrying about what would happen if Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), Beth’s fiancée, ever found out what Jamie did to Beth.

Spoiler alert: If you don’t already know and want to watch “Yellowstone” to find out, read no further.

On Reddit, fans debated the plot thread that had Jamie get Beth sterilized without her knowledge when Beth was a teenager. They questioned how that could ever happen in real life. And they mused about what Rip would do to Jamie if he discovered what happened back then.

‘Yellowstone’ Fans Note What Beth Hasn’t Told Rip

Despite her hatred for Jamie, Beth hasn’t told Rip what Jamie did. Possibly because then she might also have to tell him about the abortion of their child. And perhaps also because Rip would probably go after Jamie in a fit of rage. Her fiancee would then be in some trouble for murdering the Montana attorney general.

“She told Rip she can’t have kids but I don’t think she told him why,” one fan pointed out on Reddit.

“Cause he’d kill Jamie,” another fan chimed in.

“Yellowstone” fans went on to question how a minor could have been sterilized without her knowledge in real life. And without any parental notification, either.

“I’ve always wondered why like no one mentioned to her what she was actually getting herself into,” another fan posted. “Like the medical professionals. Also, her being underage how no adult was made to be involved somehow. Maybe I’m just thinking too much into it but that always made my mind question like how was this truly allowed to happen.”

Another fan pointed out that the flashback scenes allowed people to move from hating Beth to understanding why she treats Jamie the way she does. Many ended up rooting for her wholeheartedly. And fans acknowledged that while that plot thread may be a tad melodramatic, it doesn’t take away from all the things that make “Yellowstone” such an excellent show.

One Jamie Fan Defends His Character

By now, most “Yellowstone” fans are divided into pro-Beth and pro-Jamie camps. It’s hard to like one without taking sides against the other. So one Jamie partisan jumped into the thread to call for everyone to stop making Jamie the fall guy.

“Rip should look into the mirror himself and wonder why Beth lied to him,” the fan suggested. “John should look into the mirror and wonder why Beth did not tell him in the first place and went to Jamie when Lee was also her elder brother who is also equally able to help her… Of everything that happened to Beth, Jamie has the least part in it.”

That last part may be a bit much for Beth defenders to buy. But it’s a fair question why Beth had to go to Jamie for help in the first place. Perhaps, as other fans have suggested, the scene in which Beth interrupts Jamie’s studies to ask for help hints at an earlier closeness between the two of them. But that was shattered by Jamie’s betrayal of Beth’s trust.

In any case, it will be interesting to see how Jamie, who had so recently declared that he was only looking out for himself, reacts to the Season 3 finale attacks on his adoptive family. That is, unless he had a hand in them himself.

Fans will get to find out soon. The two-hour Season 4 premiere lands on Sunday, Nov. 7.
