‘Yellowstone’: Kevin Costner Responds to Show’s Post Asking if John Dutton Will Survive

“Yellowstone” star and executive producer Kevin Costner is throwing a pivotal question out to his followers on Twitter.

On Monday, @Yellowstone wondered, “Will Beth and John survive the attacks against them?”

“What do you think?” the Oscar winner asked his 294,800 followers.

‘Yellowstone’ Star Gets Emphatic Responses

As “Yellowstone” fans will no doubt recall, in the Season 3 finale, John Dutton (Costner) stopped to help a stranded motorist only to be gunned down by the side of the road in a drive-by shooting. Beth’s (Kelly Reilly) assistant opened a suspicious package, setting off an explosion that engulfed her whole office.

Fans have been on the edge of their seats ever since, and the prolonged delay between seasons (many expected “Yellowstone” to premiere in June, as past seasons did) only added to the suspense. Now, as the Season 4 premiere approaches, the show has been releasing a series of trailers and teasers reminding fans of where they left off.

As for Beth and John, while both characters are far from perfect, they have become fan favorites. So many of Costner’s tweeps responded with some variation on, “They’d better!”

“I’m sure,” one Twitter user replied. “Trying to figure out how Beth survives though. That was brutal.”

“Not much of a show without them 😜,” another fan posted.

“You both better,” yet another fan replied. “I will be so upset and cry and probably lose it. I want all 4 of you to survive…. Enough with cliff hangers. I don’t have any more nails [to] bite. Love all of you and enjoy and looking forward.”

Season 4 Is Less Than Two Weeks Away

Costner has been relatively tight-lipped on the subject of Season 4. He has refused to offer any spoilers about John’s fate, but he did say in an interview with Good Day New York last December that “Yellowstone” is building toward a preordained conclusion.

In the interview, Costner was asked if he was coming back to the show.

“I can’t say,” Costner replied. “There’s an ending that you’re gonna see. Hopefully it’s a powerful one for you.”

“Listen, I try to make things and be a part of things that have a dramatic arc to them,” he added. “Just try to enjoy it right up to the end if you can.”

That’s not much to go on for audiences looking for reassurance. “Yellowstone” fans would be devastated by John’s death. But then again, surely series co-creator Taylor Sheridan knows that.

It’s been a long, suspenseful wait for fans, but now the wait is almost over. Season 4 premieres Sunday, Nov. 7, exclusively on the Paramount Network. The two-hour season premiere promises to be epic. And judging by the Season 3 finale ratings, its viewership numbers will be, too. Don’t miss it.
