Season 3 of “Yellowstone” ended with a climactic showdown over plans to build an airport in the valley where the Dutton Ranch sits. Now a new “Yellowstone” behind-the-scenes clip is hinting that in Season 4, construction may begin on said airport.
A new featurette on Piper Perabo’s character, Summer Higgins, includes a brief glimpse of a map of the valley. It’s labeled with new additions like “airport” and “ski resort.” Following that are several shots of construction crews getting to work.
“There’s an airport that they’re trying to build,” Perabo explains in the featurette. “And although [my character] was in the area doing protests, to protest the building of an airport is a much bigger deal, and much more dangerous.”

‘Yellowstone’ Showdown Over Airport Could Turn Deadly, If It Hasn’t Already
In the Season 3 finale, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) battled with hedge fund Market Equities, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) and Gov. Lynelle Perry (Wendy Moniz-Grillo) over the parcel of John’s land that the hedge fund was eyeing for its airport.
John and Beth firmly refused to sell the land. And no sooner had Jamie overruled Beth, pointing out that she filed key legal paperwork in the wrong state, putting him in charge of the decision whether to sell the land, than Angela Blue Thunder (Q’orianka Kilcher) seemed to come riding to the rescue. She announced that her tribe would be filing a class-action environmental impact lawsuit to stop the airport from materializing. And Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) suggested that the Duttons were welcome to join them.
Problem solved? Not so fast. Soon after the meeting, John stopped to help a stranded motorist and was gunned down in a drive-by shooting. Beth disappeared into the explosion that rocked her office after her assistant opened a suspicious package. And Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) suddenly came under attack at his own office.
We don’t yet know who was responsible for the attacks. But it’s clear that, even if the Duttons survive to see Season 4, they have at least one and possibly several dangerous enemies on their hands. And that could complicate their efforts to halt the airport’s construction.
Season 4 Is Right Around the Corner
“Yellowstone” fans have been waiting for Season 4 to premiere for a while now, and their wait turned out to be longer than many had anticipated. The past three seasons have all premiered in June. So naturally, when June passed with no Season 4 premiere, some fans started to get a little bit impatient.
Finally, news broke that the premiere was due out in November. Sunday, Nov. 7, to be precise.
The two-hour television event should be epic, with some resolution to that suspenseful Season 3 cliffhanger. It may well shatter the previous ratings record, considering that the Season 3 finale set a new ratings record and clinched the show’s top spot on cable.
And it’s available exclusively on the Paramount Network. So don’t miss it.
