‘Yellowstone’ Prequel ‘1883’ Somehow Includes an Actor From Original Series

If fans of hit series “Yellowstone” don’t know the name Martin Sensmeier, they soon will as he takes on a role in spinoff “1883.”

Sensmeier is joining a terrific “1883” cast that includes Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Western veteran Sam Elliott. He will be playing Sam, a Comanche Native-American Warrior on the show. What is interesting about Sensmeier’s “1883” casting is his previous experience with the “Yellowstone” cast.

Fans of the show will recognize Sensmeier as “Martin,” Monica’s pool-based physical therapist from a previous season. We don’t know if his “Yellowstone” and “1883” characters will have a link but it can’t be ruled out. We’ve not seen his “Yellowstone” character in a couple of seasons but he could always reemerge at some point. After surviving several bullet wounds, John Dutton could perhaps seek out Martin for some physical therapy.

Sensmeier is certainly joining an all-star cast with the aforementioned country music power couple taking lead roles. In “1883,” Tim McGraw will be playing James Dutton, a direct ancestor of present-day “Yellowstone” Ranch owner John Dutton. Faith Hill will play Margaret Dutton, James Dutton’s wife. “1883” will tell the story of how the Duttons came to settle in Montana. It will also likely give us the origin story of how “Yellowstone” Ranch grew into one of the biggest cattle ranches in the country. “Yellowstone” fans are beyond excited for the prequel that will premiere on December 19.

The excitement among fans grew when we got our first look at Tim McGraw as James Dutton in a recent “Yellowstone” episode. A flashback reveals that the Duttons and a local Native American tribe have been feuding for more than a century. McGraw looks like he is going to fit right with the Dutton family quite nicely and the same for Hill.

‘Yellowstone’ Season Four Reaching Halfway Point

While the excitement for “1883” is heating up, “Yellowstone” is killing it with its fourth and latest season. The numbers so far for the fourth season are ridiculous and will only grow stronger as the season rolls on.

The premiere episode of “Yellowstone’s” fourth season saw more than 8.3 million viewers tune in and watch. That number more than doubles the number of viewers that watched the third season debut episode. It seems “1883” will also see huge viewership numbers when it premieres its first episode next month.

With this Sunday’s brand new episode, “Yellowstone” season four will hit the halfway mark with five episodes in the bag. Despite being nearly halfway over, there is still plenty of mystery and intrigue surrounding the fourth season. One storyline that seems to be developing before our eyes is the discovery of just who ordered the attacks on the Dutton family to close out the third season.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
