In Episode 4 of Yellowstone’s Season 4, we caught a glimpse of the Four Sixes Ranch, which will be the setting for the Yellowstone spinoff 6666. Here’s what we know about the spinoff so far.
For one thing, Jimmy (Jefferson White) will be a major character on the new show. Walker actor Ryan Bingham has also signed on to join the cast. In last week’s episode of Yellowstone, we learned that Walker’s biggest regret in life was leaving the Four Sixes.
At the end of episode 4, we saw Jimmy arrive at the massive Four Sixes Ranch that reaches the horizon in every direction.
The spinoff will premiere on Paramount+, Paramount’s streaming service. No premiere date has been announced yet, but when it is revealed, Outsider will be on it.
Yellowstone Spinoff Site Has Been Purchased by Taylor Sheridan
Earlier this year, the news broke that Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan had led a group of buyers to purchase the famous Four Sixes Ranch. The ranch, which is in North Texas, spans about 266,255 acres, or 416 square miles.
The Texas Spur reports that the ranch was put up for sale late last year after a death in the family of its owners, with an asking price of upwards of $340 million. The ranch had been separated into three separate properties that had to be bought together.
And now Sheridan is reportedly under contract to buy all three parcels. This is the first time in the ranch’s history that it has come under contract. Sheridan and his partners intend to keep the property as a working ranch. But it looks like they’ll also be shooting there – as in fact they already have.
A Native Son, Sheridan Plans to Showcase Texas
The Yellowstone co-creator grew up in Texas himself before heading out to Los Angeles to try to make it in the entertainment industry. Specifically, he was raised in small-town Cranfills Gap, which is 54 miles west of Waco. His production company, Bosque Ranch, is named in honor of where he grew up.
“I’m deeply influenced by where I grew up and how I grew up,” Sheridan told Texas Highways last December. “We didn’t depend on our ranch for income. But it’s where I learned how to become a cowboy.”
“Back then, the Gap had a hardware store, a grocery store, a feed store, and a fillin’ station,” Sheridan added of his childhood on the ranch. “And that’s about it. We were pretty isolated on the ranch. We’d get excited when the propane man would come to fill the tank.”
At 14, Sheridan started working on a nearby cattle ranch for $400 a month and a bunk. So he has lived the bunkhouse life and knows the world of which he writes.
And now Jimmy and Walker will be bunking at the Four Sixes. We already know that Jimmy landed there by breaking his promise to John Dutton (Kevin Costner) to forget about rodeo. How Walker ends up back there remains to be seen.
For the time being, if you’re curious about 6666, it looks like the best way to catch sneak peeks of the new series is to watch Yellowstone. It airs on the Paramount Network every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. Don’t miss out.
