The third season of “Yellowstone” offered plenty of drama and suspense. Now Wes Bentley, who plays Jamie Dutton, is teasing a major Jamie story arc for the upcoming season.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bentley held forth on the family dynamics of the Dutton clan. He also drops some hints about his own character’s development over the seasons.
During one exchange, Bentley responds to speculation that Jamie may go “full villain.” He seems to toy with the possibility that that’s in the cards for “Yellowstone.”
“I like how you’re thinking,” Bentley says. He adds, “I agree with that. I think it’s going to be a really interesting thing to see.”
Jamie’s relationship with his adoptive sister Beth is one of the more complex plot lines on the show. Viewers remain on edge at the end of season 3, wondering who could possibly have sent a bomb to Beth’s office.
“There was always hope that they loved each other more than they hated each other,” Bentley says to Entertainment Weekly.
He says in addition, “But I think Jamie, coming with the realization that he isn’t even a Dutton, is realizing what he did cannot get fixed, or maybe he doesn’t have the ability to fix it. He’s trying to be strong there and stand up and say, ‘All right, it’s broken. You’re right. I’m not even one of you. But I still got to do something.’ But you know Jamie, he doesn’t make the best decisions. He makes a choice, I’ll put it that way.”
Although whatever happens with Jamie, one outcome seems pretty certain as Express noted: the Duttons are going to war with their enemies next season.
