A new season of “Yellowstone” is up and running and fans are still talking about the incredible opening sequence of season four.
Hopefully, you didn’t blink during the first episode first segment because may have missed something. That’s how much action the writers crammed into the season four premiere. The action picked up right where the third season left off as we learn the fate of the Dutton family. What we didn’t see in the third season finale is that there was another attack at the “Yellowstone” Ranch. During this sequence, an unlikely hero emerged from the chaos of the attack — Tate Dutton. The youngster saved his mother, Monica Dutton, from an attacker. It looked liked Monica may be a goner as she struggled with the attacker, eventually ending up on the ground. That is when Tate sprung into action by firing a shotgun at the attacker, knocking the aggressor off of Monica. It was a big moment for Tate and likely one that will have an impact on his storyline this season.
At just 13-years-old, Brecken Merrill is the youngest of the primary “Yellowstone” cast. In a Thursday morning social media post, Merrill talks about the scene and gives viewers a little behind-the-scenes look.
“The outpouring of love and support and encouragement from all the Yellowstoners has been amazing,” he says. “Thank you all for your kind words.”
Merrill also shares several photos from the “Yellowstone” premiere as he works toward filming the attack scene. He is working with “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan in several shots, learning the right way to hold the rifle.
“As a special treat and thank you I thought I’d share a few snaps from that epic, record-breaking season premiere,” he says.
‘Yellowstone’ Star Brecken Merrill Teases More Tate Time
After his big scene, we don’t see much more of Tate in the season four premiere. Later in his post, Merrill says that could change with upcoming episodes.
“Thanks for watching! I’ll see you next week when hopefully we’ll find out what the heck happened to Tate,” he writes. “Where is he?”
You have to wonder what kind of effect the attack will have on Tate moving forward. Kelsey Asbille, the actress behind Monica Dutton, said in an interview that Tate will struggle with the fallout.
It’s been a real treat for “Yellowstone” fans to watch Brecken and Tate grow up before our very eyes. Brecken has easily become a favorite among the show’s fans for his excellent work. We are all excited to witness his season four journey.
The next step in Tate’s journey will come this Sunday when “Yellowstone” airs its third episode of the young season. We can’t wait to see what this incredible show has lined for us next.
