On Tuesday afternoon, Yellowstone actor Brecken Merrill revealed the number one question he gets asked by fans in a post on Instagram.
Merrill’s character Tate Dutton has had a rough time on the show in recent seasons. At the end of Season 2, the Dutton and Becks’ feud leads to Tate’s kidnapping. As if that didn’t scar the young man enough, he experienced another traumatic event to open up Season 4.
During the explosive Season 3 finale, a hit was put out on the entire Dutton family. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) got attacked by gunmen while on the road. Plus his son, Kayce, and his daughter, Beth, were attacked while at work. As the new season debuted last month, fans finally found out if the family survived.
Additionally, gunmen invaded the Dutton Ranch trying to take out any and everyone they could. Kayce’s wife, Monica, and their son, Tate, were home and had to fight for their life. In fact, just before an attacker shot Monica, Tate grabbed a rifle and killed the hired gunman. For a boy so young to kill a man, it had to have a lasting impact on him, and it certainly did. The youngest Dutton hid in the upstairs bedroom for weeks after the nearly fatal event.
Yet with all this excitement surrounding Merrill’s character, fans tend to ask him about another part of his story instead. Where has his trusty horse Lucky gone the last season and a half? His grandfather gave him Lucky in Season 2, but since his kidnapping, Lucky has been MIA.
“The number 1 question I get asked is, ‘Where is Lucky?'” the Yellowstone actor shared on Instagram. He then decided to have some fun with the post when adding, “So now I’m asking you guys. Where is Lucky? Wrong answers only!”
‘Yellowstone’ Star Reveals Why Kevin Costner Is His Season 4 Role Model
For a young actor to have a Hollywood legend like Kevin Costner on the set to learn from is a blessing. To Brecken Merrill’s credit, he seems to value his working relationship with the iconic movie star, and soaks in his time with Costner whenever he can.
During a News Nation interview from a few weeks ago, the young actor called Costner his Yellowstone Season 4 role model. The pair have each been part of the hit Paramount series since its premiere in 2018. At 13 years old, Merrill is still the youngest member of the cast. He’s been lucky to share the screen with Costner and to have filmed numerous scenes with the veteran actor, and he shared his admiration for Costner in the interview.
“He treats me as a peer more than just like a little kid,” Merrill shared. “Like, one time I was on set and I called cut not knowing like, I’m just a kid. I can’t just call cut. And everyone was laughing. Everyone’s like, ‘Oh my God, the kid called cut.’ And instead of laughing, Kevin was confused why I called cut. And he just treated me as a peer more than just a little kid.”
