“Yellowstone” fans know that star Cole Hauser’s character Rip Wheeler doesn’t show vulnerability easily. He’s a stoic, tough-as-nails type who doesn’t take crap from anyone. But in real life, Hauser isn’t afraid to open up, especially when it comes to family.
The actor took to Instagram earlier today to share a sweet snapshot of his son, Ryland Hauser, for his 17th birthday. Though Ryland’s close to becoming a full-grown adult, the pic that the “Yellowstone” star shared shows the son as a small child. The throwback pic is absolutely adorable on several levels, from Ryland’s laugh to Cole’s cheek pressed against his son’s face as he smiles.
“Happy 17th bday son shine! @ryhauser love ya!” Cole Hauser captioned the post.
For once, the “Yellowstone” star’s face isn’t closed off or fierce. It’s relaxed and happy as he holds his young son close, pulling on all our heartstrings.
In the show, Hauser’s character Rip Wheeler doesn’t have a son. Instead, he engages in an on-again-off-again relationship with Beth Dutton, the daughter of his boss John Dutton. We’re not sure whether Beth or John survive the events leading up to the Season 4 premiere.
When we left off in Season 3, an explosion ripped Beth’s office apart and potentially killed her. And John got gunned down on the side of the road, leaving him bleeding out. Based on the Season 4 trailer, we know Rip is the one who finds him. He says, “Don’t you die on me now” as he runs to help the man who’s been like a father to him.
But that’s only the beginning of what to expect in “Yellowstone” Season 4.
Cole Hauser and Cast Tease Lots of ‘Revenge’ for Season 4 of ‘Yellowstone’
Earlier this week, Cole Hauser posted a video on Instagram called “Inside Yellowstone Season 4.” The cast sat down for exclusive interviews to talk about what’s coming up in the new season.
“At the end of Season 3, we didn’t know who was gonna come back,” said Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton. “Season 4 opens with just equal amounts of chaos.”
Wes Bentley, the actor for Jamie Dutton continues with, “Where we pick up is where we left off. The action of the scene is real-time. My heart was pumping just reading it. So I think it’s gonna be pretty spectacular to see.”
The actors who play the ranch hands mention how a lot of the season focuses on retaliation and revenge.
“You know that anytime someone puts the Dutton family in harm’s way, there’s gonna be some kind of revenge,” Eden Brolin, the May actor, said.
Ian Bohen, who’s Ryan, added, “Naturally, we want to figure out who did this. You can only imagine what kind of force might be unleashed against the bad guys.”
“The retaliation that those who wronged the buttons are facing is one of incomparable scale,” Jen Landon said. She plays Teeter on the show.
At the end of the day, Cole Hauser wrapped up what’s really gonna go down. “Everybody’s gonna get f***** up,” he concluded.
