Yellowstone star actor Cole Hauser has become a household name as the rough and rugged cowboy Rip Wheeler.

Big, burly and typically decked out in black, Rip is a menacing presence who rules the bunkhouse crew with an iron fist. Not many dare challenge the bada** cowboy, but when someone works up the courage to take him on, it usually doesn’t end well.

Rip is more than capable of rounding up stray cattle, keeping the ranch hands in line and kicking some tail when necessary. Through the series, the only fight he’s lost was to Kayce Dutton — and it was a fight he lost on purpose to allow Kayce to lead the Yellowstone ranch hand crew.

One look at Rip Wheeler would have most men shaking in their cowboy boots. Hauser puts in a great deal of work to make Rip the enforcer that he is. When most Yellowstone fans think of Rip, they think of a bearded, muscular and intimidating man. It is a look that didn’t come naturally for the baby-faced Hauser, who does not typically keep a beard or beefed-up frame.

Hauser took to social media on Tuesday to share a “throwback” photo of himself before he became Rip Wheeler. The difference in appearance between the actor and the character is quite shocking.

“Young Buck,” he writes in the post’s caption. Even the most dedicated Yellowstone fan would have trouble recognizing this young face as the actor who plays Rip Wheeler without context.

Yellowstone Fans Excited for Show’s Fourth Season

Yellowstone fans certainly took notice of the post as it took in more than 5,000 “likes” and well over 100 comments. Many fans complimented Hauser on his career success as a thriving actor. He’s definitely come a long away since the clean-shaven days of his youth.

The fourth season of the Paramount Network series is still a few months away. That hasn’t stopped Yellowstone fans from speculating on what happens to Rip and the rest of the crew.

The third season ended with a bang, both literally and figuratively. Fans think Rip will set out a path of wrath and destruction once he finds out who is behind the attacks on the Dutton family. We wouldn’t want to be the people in those shows once the cowboy in black goes on the attack.

The fourth season of Yellowstone expects to premiere this summer.
