With the fourth season of his hit series Yellowstone set to premiere on November 7th, Cole Hauser is now revealing details about his time on the set.

During his interview with Cowboys & Indians, Hauser admits that he takes his time when it comes to reading his Yellowstone script. “I can’t speak for my other co-stars, but for me, I certainly take things in stride when it comes to reading [scripts]. But I read them as we were filming them. That’s how I like it.”

The Yellowstone star also explained that he doesn’t ever jump ahead and read episodes before he gets there. “I’m somebody that enjoys the ride as an actor. I don’t want to know what’s going to happen next.”

Hauser then revealed that other Yellowstone co-stars actually read the scripts all in one day and knew the whole season. “[They] would come to me and say, ‘Hey, did you…?’ And I’d say, ‘Don’t tell me anything about that.’ That’s just how I am.”

In regards to not knowing any surprises and cliffhangers in the show leading up to filming, Hauser goes on to add, “I trust [Yellowstone creator] Taylor [Sheridan] that he’s going to do something special. And that’s the kind of belief I have in him.”

Cole Hauser Reflects on When He Realized ‘Yellowstone’ Was Going to Be a Hit

While also chatting with Cowboys & Indians, Cole Hauser discussed the moment he realized that Yellowstone was going to be very popular. “It started as a very grassroots show. It obviously wasn’t what it is now. But there were people throughout the country who were watching very closely right out of the gates.”

Hauser also admits that Yellowstone’s popularity has a lot to do with Kevin Costner and his “body of work.” Hauser explained, “Not only the body of work but the westerns he’s done. Like Dances With Wolves. Wonderful stuff that he’s created. It brought in this audience that has been watching him.”

Hauser then stated that Costner’s popularity has also “bled” into the younger crows. “There are more and more younger people coming up to me and talking about [Yellowstone] than there were initially,” Hauser observed. He then recalled being at a high school football game in Florida and being noticed by teenagers due to his role on the show.

“I was shocked that 16-year-olds, 14-year-olds, 18-year-olds – male and female – are watching the show and are blown away and love it. It wasn’t that way initially.”

Starring alongside Costner and Hauser on Yellowstone is Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, and Gil Birmingham. The show currently has 29 episodes and the upcoming fourth season will have an additional 10 episodes. The season premiere will be two hours long.
