Among the many stars that dot the cast of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone,” perhaps no one has done more to boost their career than Cole Hauser.

On “Yellowstone,” Hauser plays the rough and tough leader of the ranch’s bunkhouse, Rip Wheeler. Rip is as tough as they come and is not someone you want to run afoul of. Crossing the line drawn by Rip Wheeler is also likely to get you a trip to the hospital or, even worse, the train station. As every “Yellowstone” fan knows, there is no actual train station at the end of that trip. Rip is a menacing-looking man that is typically dressed in all black to add to his intimidation factor. The intimidation factor is something that Rip has in droves as he is tall, husky and strong as an ox. In addition to his duties on the ranch, Rip also serves as the Dutton family’s enforcer. He has no qualms with permanently doing away the family’s enemies or any other dirty task John Dutton may have for him.

Cole Hauser is the actor that brings Rip Wheeler to life and gives him these intimidating qualities. Away from the “Yellowstone” set, however, Hauser is a pretty normal guy that his cohorts describe as easygoing. He has a wonderful young family and enjoys sports and spending time with loved ones. Sometimes, however, Rip rubs off Hauser, according to Jefferson White, who plays the rookie ranch hand, Jimmy Hurdstrom. In a recent episode of “Stories From the Bunkhouse,” White shares what working with Hauser is like.

“One time we’re in between scenes like they’re setting up lights,” White says as he begins his story. “Cole goes, ‘Hey Jeff, come here, get here.’ I go over there and he grabs me by the back of the neck and he pulls me in. I’m like, ‘oh f***, what is it, what did I do? Is he… what’s gonna happen?’”

The story drew a round of laughter from “Yellowstone” cast members Denim Richards (Colby) and Ian Bohen (Ryan). Both agreed that Hauser can be an intimidating presence when he is getting into the Rip Wheeler character. But all three of the actors agree that they deeply enjoy working with Hauser and wouldn’t have it any other way. Richards even calls Hauser a big teddy bear in the segment. Better hope that Rip doesn’t find out about that.

The “bromance” between Jimmy and Rip through three seasons has been highly entertaining, to say the least. “Yellowstone” fans certainly want to see the two get more screen time together.

Of course, for that to happen, Jimmy will have to be alive in the upcoming fourth season. That is very much in doubt as we last see Jimmy falling from a bucking horse. You have to think his situation will somehow affect Rip in the upcoming new season.
