‘Yellowstone’ Star Kelly Reilly Reveals Most Generous Actor She’s Ever Worked With

During her time on “Yellowstone,” star Kelly Reilly’s had the honor of working with one actor in particular who she calls “generous.”

That actor, of course, is none other than Kevin Costner. On the show, Costner plays John Dutton, father of Beth, Reilly’s character. The two have a great dynamic on the show, with Beth fiercely protective of her father and John trusting that Beth will always be there for him, even when his sons aren’t.

During an interview with Looper, Reilly opened up about how the two get along on set as well, from a professional and personal perspective.

“Well, we’ve been working together for four years now, he and I, and we have so many scenes together, so many days working together,” Reilly said. “He’s honestly one of the nicest, most generous actors I’ve worked with. We get on so well and we have this really fun relationship.”

Beth really does spend a lot of time talking with John more than any other character on “Yellowstone”. The only actor Reilly might work with more is Cole Hauser, who plays her fiance Rip. But it’s always wonderful to know that the actors don’t have to “act” as much on the bond between their two characters.

“So, yeah, I mean, it’s pretty wonderful. He’s so incredible on the show,” Reilly said of Costner. “I really respect him as an actor and the work he’s doing. I just love what he does. I could watch him all day. I’m learning a lot from him.”

Reilly revealed later on in the interview that she learns by watching Costner, not because he comes up to her to give her advice. Reilly is solid enough in her craft to be able to learn from Costner on her own terms.

‘Yellowstone’ Fans Wish For Different Dynamic Between Jamie and Beth

While ‘Yellowstone’ fans love to see Reilly and Costner in action as Beth and John, several fans wish for a different type of scene between Beth and Jamie (Wes Bentley).

A fan on Reddit posted a thread about how every scene between the two plays out the same. The scene goes like this:

Jamie and Beth completely alone somewhere.
Beth: Damn you Jamie!!
Jamie: Oh no!! What did I do this time?
Beth: You’re evil and I’m gonna kill you! storms off.
Jamie: (shrugs)

The “Yellowstone” fan is right. Even in this new Season 4, we’ve seen Jamie twice, and one of those times was so he and Beth could have that exact conversation above. When will we see Beth follow through on her promise? Or when will Jamie step up and stop playing the victim?

One fan on the thread said what needed to be said. “After three seasons and 3 episodes (so far) of Beth acting like the proverbial barking dog that seldom bites and Jamie playing the victim, it is starting to get old. I hope both will mature out of their exaggeratedly extended adolescence this season.”

Will it ever happen? We’ll have to wait and see, Outsiders.
