“We’re so lucky to have found each other,” says Yellowstone‘s own Beth Dutton, Kelly Reilly, on her working relationship with Cole Hauser.

If there was ever any doubt that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are in this together, the air has been cleared.

“Oh, Cole’s my buddy. We’re such good friends. And, honestly, we’re so lucky to have found each other,” Reilly tells Looper as Yellowstone Season 4 rages on. The two phenomenal actors have crafted one of televisions most beloved relationships made up of their now-iconic characters, Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.

“We get to go on this journey with these two incredible characters with each other,” Reilly continues. It’s a job – and world – they don’t take lightly, either.

“We’re both really protective of them, and we’re really passionate about the work. We’re both at a point in our careers where we found roles that we could put our soul and heart into. We really feel blessed, both of us. We don’t take it for granted,” the Yellowstone favorite says, adding it’s a sentiment she shares with Hauser. “And we support each other and have fun. It’s really lovely.”

‘Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly on the ‘Trust’ She Cherishes with Cole Hauser

With such a close on-screen relationship, however, always comes public interest. Yellowstone hasn’t exactly brought scrutiny onto the actors, at least not in the form of tabloids questioning their off-screen relationship. And Reilly credits this fully to the trust she shares with Hauser and their respective spouses.

“We trust each other. I’ve been married for ten years, and he’s been married forever, and his wife’s incredible and wonderful. We’re all friends,” she reveals. “So, it’s like, there’s a level of trust there that allows us to really go as far as we go into the work with one another because we’re friends, and I think that’s really special.”

It shows on-screen, too, something Kelly Reilly credits Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan for fully.

“Well, she’s so brilliantly written,” Reilly says of Beth. “There’s not a line that she says that I don’t love. She’s a bit of a fantasy of all the things that you want to say, but you’d never have the courage to say or do. So, there is an aspect of fantasy of when I read her like, I wish I could have a bit of Beth in me to be able to say some of those things … and I get to be able to do that.”

This has led to Beth Dutton becoming “very real” for the actor, something that’s “equal parts fun and equal parts deeply challenging and terrifying to play sometimes.”

And Yellowstone fans get to reap the benefits. Season 4 continues every Sunday night at 8 PM Eastern on Paramount Network.
