“Yellowstone” star Kevin Costner, who plays John Dutton on the show, has some big news. The Modern West frontman is taking his band on a tour through Texas and the Midwest.
The tour kicks off in Ardmore, Oklahoma on Aug. 24 and winds up in Decatur, Illinois on Sept. 4. All told, they will be playing eight different cities.
“Big news… we’re hitting the road!” Costner posted to Instagram on Wednesday. “The band and I are so excited to be playing the #TalesFromYellowstone album live. Stay tuned for ticket details!”
Costner’s Band Went Country Because It ‘Seems Fun’
Modern West leans toward country music. And in a 2012 interview with Canada’s CTV Morning Live, the “Yellowstone” star said there’s no particular reason why; that’s just what seemed fun to them.
“I don’t know why it’s country music,” Costner said. “I think that’s where people slot us. And I think our sounds maybe fit into that. But we’re not traditional country. We didn’t go into it for that. We went into it to play live, and that’s what we do. I choose to go the directions that interest me. You know, what seems fun?”
When it comes to his art, Costner said, he doesn’t pursue something unless he thinks it has a chance to become a classic. Still, when writing songs, he takes an egalitarian approach, always willing to ditch a song he’s written if someone else in the band has come up with something better.
“I write a lot of songs, and most of ’em aren’t very good,” Costner said. “Every time you write one, you think it’s good. And what happens is, you know, sometimes one emerges, and you have to kind of be smart, and go, ‘That’s song’s not good enough. Just ‘cause I write it, maybe somebody else in the band wrote another song that’s way better.’”
Season 4 of ‘Yellowstone’ Is on the Way
Meanwhile, fans of Costner’s who won’t be in Ardmore, New Braunfels, Crockett, Kansas City, Fort Worth, Grand Island, St. Paul or Decatur anytime soon can take heart. There’s a new season of “Yellowstone” coming in a few short months.
After a long delay – during which the anticipated June premiere date passed with no premiere – news finally broke that Season 4 of “Yellowstone” will be launching in early November. The show also released a trailer teasing the new season.
Given the epic Season 3 finale cliffhanger, fans will be at the edge of their seats when Season 4 begins. We can only hope Taylor Sheridan is able to deliver after leaving fans hanging for so long.
